The 5 Million Women AI Initiative is offering free AI training to help women of color learn how to use AI and build confidence with new tools.

WIBC is not connected to this organization. We’re simply sharing it because we believe women business owners should have access to resources that help them keep learning, growing, and staying prepared.

What an incredible turnout and energy at today’s Women in Business Connections meeting!

We had the absolute pleasure of hearing from Kristen Toya, Community Engagement Manager at McKinley, who delivered a powerful and insightful presentation on "The Value of Sponsorship." She broke down how strategic partnerships can drive massive community impact while simultaneously fueling business success.

A huge thank you to Kristen for sharing her expertise, and to all the phenomenal, forward-thinking women who joined us today to connect, collaborate, and grow together. Looking around the room, it is clear that when women support women, amazing things happen.

What do you actually want when you walk into a networking room?

Not what sounds good.

Not the polished answer.

The real answer.

Are you looking for referrals?
Friendship?
Visibility?
Collaboration?
Support?
A place where people actually remember your name?

Sometimes we go to networking events on autopilot.

We show up.
We introduce ourselves.
We pass out cards.
We say, “Let’s connect soon.”
Then we leave wondering if it was worth it.

But maybe the better question is:

What am I hoping to build here?

At Women in Business Connections, we believe networking works best when it starts with intention.

Because when you know what you want, it becomes easier to show up clearly, connect honestly, and build relationships that actually mean something.

So I’ll ask you:

When you network, what are you really looking for?

05/14/2026

Not all networking has to happen at a loud happy hour with a name tag and awkward small talk.

A lot of women business owners are asking the same thing lately:

“How do I network if I’m an introvert?”
“How do I build connections when I’m juggling family life?”

And honestly? That shift matters.

Networking is starting to look different. More people are looking for connection without the pressure. That can mean:

• Morning coffee meetups instead of late-night events

• Virtual coffee chats during lunch breaks

• Smaller, more intentional gatherings

• LinkedIn conversations that happen over time

• Voice notes, DMs, and online communities that fit real schedules

You do not have to become the loudest person in the room to build meaningful business relationships.

Some of the strongest connections happen through consistency, genuine conversations, and simply showing up in ways that work for your life.

At Women In Business Connections, we believe networking should feel more human and more accessible for real women balancing business, family, work, and life.

Because connection should not feel like another exhausting task on your calendar.

Most networking events prioritize volume.
We focus on connection.

Women in Business Connections is designed for business owners who want more than surface-level conversations.

It’s a space to build real relationships, share resources, and create referrals that actually go somewhere.

Your marketing isn’t broken… it’s just confusing people.
And confused people don’t buy.

If you’ve ever struggled to explain what you do without getting blank stares (or the classic “oh…that’s cool”), this one’s for you.

We’re breaking down how to:
• Say what you do clearly
• Get people to actually understand it
• Turn that clarity into real conversations (and clients)
Just real talk with other business owners who get it.

Come for the clarity. Leave knowing what to say and how to say it.

A few people had to leave early before taking the picture but so grateful to get these amazing women in the same room! Special thanks to Michelle from for speaking to us today about the trials and tribulations of business ownership and starting from the ground up

Let’s be real for a second

Those 30-second “commercials” at networking events
Are they actually working for you or just filling time?

Because here’s what we see
Most people ramble
Most people sound the same
And most people forget what they just said the second they sit down

So is it a waste of time
Or are we just doing it wrong?

What if your “commercial” wasn’t about listing what you do
but actually made people get you?

Drop your honest take below 👇
Love them? Hate them? Feel awkward every single time?

Let’s talk about it
