Oliver's Opera was filmed at the Palace Hotel, the Inn of San Francisco, and the old Hugo Hotel (1907) at 6th and Howard, which was demolished soon after filming was complete. The outside of the condemned Hugo had been the site of Brian Goggin's site specific work Defenestration for many years, but few people had seen the inside of the building. We wanted to make a film that would capture its atmosphere and harken back to the way things might have been near the time of its creation. Oliver's Opera is best experienced as a series of vignettes or paintings. Watch it full screen, credits are in the comments, feel free to tag.
