Workplace gaslighting usually follows a predictable script. But instead of second-guessing yourself, here’s how to respond to the most common phrases without getting dragged into an argument:

👉 When they say: “I never said that.” (28% hear this)
✔️ Say this: “Thanks for clarifying. I’ll send a quick email recap so we stay aligned on next steps.”

👉 When they say: “That never happened.” (23% hear this)
✔️ Say this: “I’m focused on the project outcome, so let me document this in writing for the team.”

👉 When they say: “You’re overreacting.” (22% hear this)
✔️ Say this: “I'm focused on solving the project issue, so let's stick to the deliverables.”

When you shift the focus away from memory and straight to written documentation, you protect your peace and build an undeniable paper trail.

Have you ever heard any of these at work before?

A job interview is a two-way conversation.

Before accepting an offer, use the interview process to get a clearer picture of what the role will actually look like once you’re hired.

Try asking:

- What does a typical week look like in this role?

- What would you want me to accomplish in my first 90 days?

- How might the responsibilities change over time?

- How do you typically approach promotions and career growth?

The goal isn’t to predict every change that could happen. It’s to make sure you’re making a decision based on a realistic picture of the job, not just the job description.

Myth: Your resume must always fit on a single page. Truth: Quality beats page count every single time.

The "one-page rule" causes so many talented candidates to cut vital accomplishments, metrics, and leadership experience just to fit an arbitrary layout.

So, when is a two-page resume actually a great choice?

You have 5+ years of relevant experience to showcase.

You are pivoting careers and need space to highlight transferable skills.

You hold technical or specialized roles that require detailed project scopes.

If every bullet point earns its spot with real value, page two is not a distraction. It is your evidence. Is your resume sitting at one page or two right now? Let's discuss in the comments!

The worst mistake you can make in an interview? Leaving the Q&A to chance.

Asking basic questions gets you basic, canned answers. Strategic questions do two things: they position you as a high-value problem solver, and they uncover what working there is actually like.
