This was a great day!! Volunteers were passionate. Kids were filled with joy. Ayesha has an amazing handle on plants and wanted to ditch the busy schedule to continue doing work. My heart was warmed and my face hurt from smiling so much.

Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation] What a way to spend the day and celebrate ’s three-year anniversary!

Stephen, Ayesha, and Eat. Learn. Play. spent an unforgettable afternoon hosting more than 1,000 kids from local summer camps at our first “Eat. Learn. Play. Day at the Ballpark.” The Currys and campers spent the day eating, learning, playing, and cheering on our hometown to a win. After the game, every child had a chance to run the bases with Stephen and then went home with new backpacks full of incredible books. We overheard one child saying, “This is the best day of my life!”

That’s not all! In the morning, and joined , and Ripple] to put the finishing touches on a new kid-designed playground that will serve as a safe space to play for Oakland kids. Veggies were planted, murals painted, and climbing walls constructed. It was the culmination of months of planning and a week’s worth of work by over 250 volunteers.

More than literacy promoted with the string of events on this day. Always grateful to be encouraged and considered a peer and friend to . Grateful to be asked by him to help tell the story of kindness and giving that the Currys are creating • It’s 📚 and we're so excited to celebrate the local libraries in our communities for all they do to promote literacy and provide us access to books and information. We recently launched our newest initiative—Eat. Learn. Play. Little Town Libraries—to encourage kids to read by making it accessible, fun, and inspirational! We hope that our free, book-sharing libraries will help plant the seeds needed to continue growing a culture of literacy. 📖

During our launch last week, and , stopped by Franklin Elementary, the Oakland Housing Authority, and Room to Bloom to officially plant the libraries and fill them with books with the help of some fantastic kids and community members. We also want to thank our partners who were present to help make this day possible: Oakland Public Library, Black Cultural Zone, Oakland Literacy Coalition, Little Free Library, Workday, Rakuten, Kaiser Permanente, and CarMax.

Also, expressing gratitude to the Good Tidings Foundation for their design and construction, and the Illuminaries for their incredible artwork.
