My mom and I
I drove up to Washington State May 30th to be with my mom because a few weeks earlier she had slipped and fell , breaking her femur and hip, while in surgery, she had several strokes but made through that and was in physical therapy, but it was too excruciating for her . My oldest niece, Dusty, was there for her every moment to make sure that mom would receive the best possible care. Dusty, my father and my mother, made the decision to place her into Hospice, where she would receive better care as she would be bedridden for the remainder of her life. She wanted to be sure that she would be comfortable. The pain was terrible. It took forever before they were able to manage her pain. She had complications with severe bed sores that were not tended properly before it was too late. My mom died on Saturday, June 8 at 11:38am. I am devastated as I only had a couple of actual days with her before the Hospice staff essentially, put her into a comatose. My niece, my dad and I were there for her very last moments of life. My mom opened her eyes a couple hours before she died. We said how much we loved her and thanked her for giving us this life.
Dusty and I had our hands in her hands, and in her very last moments, she grabbed our hands tightly, and guided her hands to the center where our hands came together. I wrapped my free hand to the top of my mom's hands, with my niece's hands and mine. She closed her eyes and her heart stopped beating. It was beautiful.
The next morning, I drove down to see my youngest niece in Springfield (Eugene OR) and then drove to Coos Bay OR. Because my mom had gone there when i was younger . I didn't realize that that put me onto A very long scenic trip home to San Francisco. Took tons of videos of the ocean. Stopped and slept in Gold Beach. Woke and drove til Humboldt, ended up staying at a beautiful resort chalet that was on the river. Took a nice soak in the tub in my suite looking over the yard/river, woodpecker mommy feeding her babies directly above my window. Amazing. Met some people that were staying,. had dinner, slept, Woke up this morning, cried, drove, just got home, was there 2 mins to water my plants, now house sitting with 2 amazing Persian cats!
