Intro:
Have you ever thought about working as a real-life private investigator? San Francisco-based Private Investigation company is looking for entry-level surveillance investigators to assist with cases.

Company description:
This is for a small, local company that primarily operates in the SF Bay Area. Clients can range from individuals, insurance companies, attorneys, or corporations. We handle a full range of cases including infidelity, worker’s compensation, service of process, and any other services our clients request.

Job description:
Surveillance investigators are responsible for showing up on time for a case, once assigned.
Once their subject is on the move, the investigators follow, and document with pictures and video. Investigators are responsible for communicating with each other, ensuring that they work together as a team to ensure maximum efficiency. When the situation calls for it, Investigators will approach the subject and serve them with documents.

At the conclusion of the investigation, investigators upload their pictures and videos to our database, and write a report to document the day’s events.

Investigators will receive hands-on training working cases from day one, working alongside experienced investigator. Investigators generally work in 2-person teams to ensure safety, efficiency, and discretion.

Qualifications:
This is an entry-level position. Consequently, no particular background, experience, education, or training is a prerequisite. The most important qualification is a desire to get the job done.

Required qualifications:

- Punctuality. You have to show up on time. If a client hires us to be somewhere at 3pm, and our subject left at 305, showing up at 315 to perform surveillance on an empty house doesn’t do anyone any good.

- You must have your own reliable vehicle, legally registered and insured.

- You must have a fully functional smartphone that takes pictures, videos, has good battery life, has available storage, etc. You must also have earphones with a microphone.

- You must be able to write a coherent, error-free report, using basic English. You must also have a computer to submit your reports.

- You must have some level of interest in this type of work. This isn’t the type of work one performs half-hearted, putting out the minimum effort.

The Ideal Candidate:
The right person can be someone who dreams of doing this for a career, someone looking for some experience prior to getting into law enforcement, or simply someone who wants to do something unconventional and is looking for some extra cash. What really matters is being able to work as a team to get the job done, while hopefully having a little fun.

There are no set hours, clients can call on us day or night. The hours are completely on demand based on client need. We generally get anywhere from 12-48 hours’ notice prior to working a case. The nature of the work is that days or weeks can go by with no work, and other days the caseload can be nonstop. The hours are especially sporadic during the pandemic.

With that in mind, investigators are free to turn down a case if they have a conflict or simply don’t want to work. We only ask that once you commit to a particular case, you show up and work the job until it the client ends it for the day. This means that while we have some idea when a job ends, a case can running several hours late is not an unusual thing. Bring snacks.

If you are interested:
If this seems like the kind of work that interests you, send a PM. Feel free to include any reasons why you may be interested, any relevant skills and qualifications, and any questions you may have. We can then discuss in greater detail and see if we’re a right fit for each other.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California has charged two adults in connection to an FBI agent's gun and badge that were stolen over the weekend in a Lafayette car break-in.

An unfortunate reality is that anyone can be a victim of auto burglary anywhere.
