Struggling to create safe and Medicare-Friendly skilled nursing visit frequencies?

This is probably the simplest way to create safe and Medicare-Friendly skilled nursing visit frequencies while also accurately calculating and using the new OASIS-E Functional Level Scores.

Follow these 3 steps:

1. Collect and analyze each patient's OASIS-E SOC assessment answers

2. Calculate each patient's functional level score

3. Convert their functional level score into its matching skilled nursing visit frequency

4. Confirm your patient's initial safe skilled nursing visit frequency with Medicare's calculation

Bingo-Bango, and there you have a safe and Medicare-Friendly skilled nursing visit frequency that will decrease your patients' chances of:

* Falling,
* Visiting the ED, or
* Being rehospitalized

Stop blaming your agency for your lack of OASIS-E training if you want to become a successful home health nurse.

This is what shifting from the "Blame Game" to the "Fame Game" looks like...

I did something completely unheard of when I started as a home health nurse...

I went directly to the source (Medicare) to translate everything home health nursing related so I could understand the environment and when to call "BS" on agency requests.

After a little over 1 month, I understood all of the details that I thought were important in completing my legal responsibilities, setting boundaries, and keeping myself safe as a home health nurse.

That month of focusing was the BEST thing that could have happened to my career, bc it made me INDEPENDENT of any agency I would ever work for.

It was apparent that Medicare sets the stage and agencies MUST fall in line. Meaning, training directly from Medicare can be applied to ALL home health agencies, whereas training from individual agencies is usually very specific and can largely only be applied to the inner workings of that specific agency.

Knowing this, shifted the POWER DYNAMIC in my favor bc I could take my Medicare knowledge and understanding (let's call this Medicare $) and work for ANY agency I chose bc my newly translated knowledge (Medicare $) was an extremely valuable currency that could not only be used at EVERY agency in the country but EVERY. SINGLE. AGENCY. WANTED. NEEDED and was LOOKING. FOR. IT!

I had officially set myself up to work SMARTER NOT HARDER WITH NO PAYBACK OBLIGATIONS due to an agency fronting the bill for my training bc:

✅ I INDEPENDENTLY acquired my Medicare $
✅ The Medicare $ provided me with a 1 to EVERY/MANY agency benefit!
✅ Medicare $ = could be used COUNTRY-WIDE
✅ Agency A $ = could be used primarily at Agency A (not all agenct training or processes are created equal ➡️ are you picking up what I'm putting down?)

So, going directly to the source, even though it was a huge undertaking, flipped the entire "power dynamic" away from agencies being in control of my growth and success, bc now I had given MYSELF the power to:

🎯 Work at whichever agency I chose, and
🎯 Name MY PRICE along with any additional perks

🌟🌟 And that's how I went from playing the dead-end "Blame Game" to the infinite possibility "Fame Game" 🌟🌟

Now, I'm handing you the dice, are you gonna roll to get your Medicare $ too?

My top priority this month is sharing my 3-step process that has helped over 1,500 home health nurses include the new OASIS-E updates (to include PDGM, HHVBP, and Functional Level Scores) into their OASIS SOCs process WITHOUT making things complicated or frustrating, and still saving you time!

It's my job to figure out which OASIS-E changes will have the biggest impact on home health nurses, our paychecks, and nursing licenses.

After careful evaluation, I realized that even though a number of changes have taken place since 2023 started, we've never been in a more clear-cut position as home health nurses.

I am SO excited by how changing home health care to being QUALITY care-driven instead of QUANTITY care-driven will positively impact home health nurses across the country.

What are you working on this month? 👇 I'd love to hear from you!

Red flags every home health nurse needs to look out for...

When I started as a home health nurse, my supervisors had a bet that I'd mess up OASIS bad enough to get fired, and to make matters worse one of them said to me "You're a great person, just a horrible home health nurse".

I didn't even care to ask her more bc I'd been ignoring all of the toxic red flags about them and knew it was NOT a good fit for me. So, instead of cowering to her words, I went back to the basics of asking myself:

1️⃣ Did my supervisor's comment hold water?

2️⃣ What did I want and need in the home health agency that I'd be willing to work with?

3️⃣ What were the red flags that I chose to ignore with my current agency? and

4️⃣ Moving forward, how could I prevent my performance evaluations from being negatively affected by skills that were amazing for me to have and understand, but my agency would never provide the resources or support for me to learn?

Answering those questions, gave me an entirely new perspective and a plan unfolded for me that led to my becoming successful and highly sought-after.

That new perspective taught me that I had to take total control of my own nursing career bc no one knew my needs, and wants or could give my future the level of thought and care that I will!

So, what's your takeaway?

There'll be many Nay-Sayers, Negative Nancys, Pissy Paulas, and Horror Story Home Health Nurses, but it's up to YOU to check their issues at the door by running them against what YOU KNOW to be TRUE about YOU!

You aren't a nurse by accident, you worked damn hard, and MADE IT HAPPEN! So, whatever issues the toxic bunch brings to you, are just that...THEIR ISSUES!

Can I be honest with you for a bit? 🤗

Thinking that...

🚫 All of the home health nursing documentation is a waste of your time + unnecessary.
🚫 Not staying up on the yearly OASIS assessment + documentation updates will never catch up with you.
🚫 Allowing your agency to dictate your boundaries is the "easy" way to being a successful home health nurse.

These thoughts are only sabotaging your chances of being an amazingly confident, and successful home health nurse 🚩
But you know this already, right?

Not only do they sabotage your chances, but they also:
📛 Push you back into that previous nursing position that you hated = hello depression.
📛 Keep you fueling a negative cycle that screams "you think you aren't worthy of being happy"...FYI, I've already claimed happiness for you!
📛 Allow you to feel accomplished by completing half-assed attempts at your goals.

Instead, I challenge you to:
1️⃣ Keep track of every non-sense belief or thought that pops up in your head as you start your journey to becoming a home health nurse.
2️⃣ When those non-sense thoughts pop up, actually think them all the way through to see if there is any truth to them.
3️⃣ And when you realize that those thoughts "DON'T HOLD WADA"...(I LOVE My Cousin Vinny and all things Marisa Tomei), write a NEW more positive, and realistic truth to take the place of your previous non-sense thoughts.

⭐ And each time the non-sense creeps back in (because it will), I want you to smack it down with what you KNOW to be your truth (the more positive and realistic thought).

So, which one are you going to tackle first? Need help?

💗 DM me so we can talk about how to set you up for success as you transition into home health nursing.

I'm ready, are you? 😎

Ever ask yourself “How does she do it all?!” Me too. 🥴
FOLLOW

In fact, I used to get so frustrated seeing “her” do …

👇 Like...

….working the "home health nurse 9-5",
… sustaining herself throughout the workday, ..taking care of the kids, the fur babies, ..planning date nights with her partner, ..going on weekend trips with her friends

But the thing is,
"She" is you - just focused, strategic, and unapologetically SELF-ALIGNED.

"She" starts here:
⭐ Knowing exactly how much she wants to make, so she can set boundaries around her time.
⭐ Keeping track of the things that make her uncomfortable, so she can flip that script on its head.
⭐ Always listening when her gut speaks, so she always has the upper hand (whether she chooses to show it or not is her business!!)
⭐ Keeping her eye on her "why" and the "prize", so on any day...she has her very own antidote for the venom of misery sharers + vibe killers.
⭐ Unapologetically taking time to just "be", so she's aligned with her mental, physical, and emotional health and well-being.

Which tip (and benefit) resonated with you the most.

If you’re still trying to figure this out, DM me. I want to get to know your journey as a new home health nurse. Let's chat.

Can I bring up something a little controversial?

I want to chat about boundaries. So often they get a bad rap, and if I’m honest, I have often struggled with saying no to accepting new patient assessments, even when I’m already burning the candle at both ends.

But no one can be at their best personally or as a home health nurse without putting some real, solid effort into drawing a few lines.

What do you need to say ‘no’ to, to thrive even more?

I'm here to encourage you to do it!

“The best way to predict your future is to create it.” -Abraham Lincoln 🎩

“Our only limitations are those we set up in our own minds.” -Napoleon Hill

"Aqueen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness." -Oprah

These are all words of wisdom by people who embodied success. Their words have stood the test of time and been shared over and over again.

They prove that words can serve as a 🌟 guiding light.

The words that are currently guiding me are "As home health nurses, we are doing things on our terms, in our way, with no obligations at the end of the day?"

I’ve found these words helpful because it keeps me grounded in my very own goals and abilities, without taking the "box" that others try to place home health nurses in or the status quo assumption that just because we are responsible for the care of others, we have to give away or negotiate our power and ability to protect ourselves to or with others.

Keeping these words close to my heart is what empowers me to not only stand up for my needs as a home health nurse but deeply motivates me to unapologetically advocate for and protect my fellow home health nurses on a daily basis.
