In a new Clinical Leader interview with Abby Proch, our CEO Kevin Caldwell explains why Ossium took a multi-center approach from its earliest study.

To date, 29 patients have been treated with Ossium’s organ donor-derived bone marrow at roughly half as many centers, each using the conditioning regimens and post-transplant care its team already knew. The goal was to generate data that reflects real-world transplant practice.

We're now carrying that approach into PRESERVE II, a 300-patient, three-arm study that begins enrollment in 2027.

This week, AABB selected Ossium’s abstract, "On-demand, High-quality Hematopoietic Stem Cells from Deceased Organ Donors," as a Top Poster at the 2026 Annual Meeting. The findings show stem cell viability preserved through cryopreservation and 100% engraftment in evaluable transplant recipients.

As the Journey of Hope 2026 comes to an end, it doesn't feel like an ending at all. In many ways, it feels like a beginning.

Over the past week, we've seen incredible support from around the world, with communities coming together and thousands of new blood stem cell donors joining the global effort to give patients hope.

Let's keep that momentum going. Keep following, sharing, and raising awareness, because every week more than 22,000 people hear the words, "You have blood cancer." At the same time, our global community helps more than 2,600 patients each week receive a second chance at life through a stem cell transplant.

But there is still a gap to close. With your support, we can help ensure that more patients find their match and get the transplant they need.

Last week we welcomed Congresswoman Erin Houchin, who represents Indiana's 9th District and serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, to our Indianapolis facility.

Rep. Houchin toured our lab and met the team processing and banking bone marrow from deceased organ donors, and learned about how the process works end to end — from recovery through cryopreservation to a patient's bedside.

We're grateful for her time and her interest in the patients this work is for.

When time was running out for 14-year-old Noah Britt, speed made all the difference. He's now the first pediatric patient to be treated with a bone marrow transplant using organ donor stem cells from Ossium's bank.

After a courageous fight with acute myeloid leukemia, Noah's initial living donor bone marrow transplant failed. With his condition worsening and time running short, his care team at Riley Children's Health needed another donor, fast. They identified a suitable donor in Ossium's bank, where stem cell units are available on demand. Because the cells were ready when Noah needed them, his physicians were able to move forward in days rather than months, a critical difference that gave him another chance at life.

Bone marrow transplantation has been quietly extraordinary for decades: a procedure that rebuilds a patient's entire blood and immune system from donor-derived stem cells. But it has remained dependent on living donors, narrow collection windows, and choreography that often breaks when disease moves faster than the donor coordination.

Ossium is building the alternative: a cryopreserved bank of organ donor-derived bone marrow, processed and characterized for on-demand use.

The near-term goal is access. The longer-term implication, as the piece explores, is harder to ignore: if hematopoietic stem cells sit at the root of immune decline, the infrastructure for transplantation may also be infrastructure for immune renewal.
