We were honored to produce this display for Stuart McKee for the Q***r Subjectivities in History project, now showing at These fine art prints are printed on our Cold Press Natural paper for a vibrant, high quality presentation with some texture.
The Q***r Subjectivities in History project features a series of free-standing banners that present individuals from history who can be identified as conforming to particular gay, le***an, bis*xual, or transgender identities. Shown are six of the banners as featured within the University of San Francisco’s Thacher Gallery, as part of the exhibition Wayfinders: The Art + Architecture Faculty Triennial (March 2–April 12, 2026).
In the words of the artist:
“If we consider the prevalence of individuals who possessed an intermediary s*x or gender across a variety of cultures, the variations within Western history are so numerous that they can only convince us that an underlying chauvinism has infused the public’s awareness of s*xuality in contemporary society. The Q***r Subjectivities in History project therefore seeks to “queer,” or to undermine, the notion of public education by situating overt and potentially controversial information pertaining to different global s*xualities within prominent public venues, such as the Thacher Gallery setting. In the context of the Faculty Triennial installation, the theme of “Wayfinding” will support a correction in the ways in which s*xual subjectivities can be made factual, public, and prominent.”
