Yesterday, Mayor Daniel Lurie Daniel Lurie, SF Chief of Health and Human Services Kunal Modi kunalmodi, Supervisor Matt Dorsey Matt Dorsey, and community leaders Cedric Akbar Cedric Akbar, Cregg Johnson, Gina McDonald Gina_MothersAgainstDrugAddictionandDeaths, and Tom Wolf Thomas Wolf joined us for a screening of Building Home and a powerful conversation about homelessness, addiction, and lasting recovery.

At The Salvation Army’s The Way Out thewayoutsf, we’re turning that conversation into action by helping people get off the streets, overcome addiction, and rebuild their lives.

The results speak for themselves: 83% of participants who complete the program leave sober, employed, and stably housed.

Thank you to the Independent Institute Independent Institute and our community partners for bringing San Francisco together around a shared belief: Recovery is possible, and everyone deserves a way out.

One person steadied. One neighbor fed. One family housed – because you refused to look away. Your compassion and support extend far beyond that first meal or night of shelter. It ripples outward into our community to create lasting change.

The Way Out thewayoutsf recently celebrated another group of graduates who have worked hard to rebuild their lives and take the next steps toward lasting recovery.

We were honored to welcome San Francisco Supervisor Matt Dorsey Matt Dorsey as a guest speaker and thank him for his continued support of recovery-focused solutions to homelessness.

To our graduates: This milestone belongs to you. Your determination brought you here, and we can’t wait to see what comes next!

Did you know the iconic Red Kettle tradition started right here in San Francisco? In 1891, Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee had a simple goal: make sure those in need had a warm Christmas dinner. With a single kettle placed near the ferry landing, he sparked a tradition that would spread across the country and around the world.

More than 130 years later, that same spirit of generosity continues right where it all began. ❤️

🔔 This Christmas, help us keep the tradition alive and bring hope to families and individuals across San Francisco. Ring in hope today at SanFranciscoRedKettle.org!

As we close out another fiscal year, we’re celebrating what matters most: another year of serving our neighbors across San Francisco. That work is possible because donors, volunteers, partners and communities continue to show up for their neighbors when they need it most.

And there’s no slowing down. Red Kettle season is here, and our Virtual Red Kettle is officially live! Every gift helps The Salvation Army continue serving communities throughout the year.

Help us start the season strong: sanfranciscoredkettle.org ❤️
