Maverick Wisdom

Maverick Wisdom Think Different Think Maverick "It is impossible to produce superior performance unless you do something very different"
[John Templeton].

Growing up as the oldest girl in an Indian household I couldn’t understand all the rules. And why I couldn’t do the things I wanted to do. I was curious, constantly asking why,
And rebelling the system. Have a portfolio career ranging from working as an Accounts Manager for Bob Soto's Diving in the Cayman Islands to being a Children’s Nurse/Lecturer in London, specialising in Research, Leadership,

and Management of Change. I learned the value of empathy, relationship-centered care, emotional intelligence. And the power of meaningful work. How, What, and Why do Mavericks Operate the Way they do in Business? The research project for my Masters in Innovation, Creativity, and Leadership became the catalyst for Maverick Wisdom. If business is the best vehicle we have to push humanity forward. Then constantly asking Why,
And more importantly why not is how we’re going to identify and achieve the moonshots we aim for. I’m on a mission, working with companies who want to work more effectively with their Mavericks who execute the ideas that lead to bigger, better, stronger, faster products and results. At Maverick Wisdom we believe the world’s most wicked problems have always been solved by Mavericks. Our job is to connect the dots,

We do this by putting the different in thinking. As Dr. Seuss said: "Why Fit In When You Were Born To Stand Out." The girl who wouldn’t fit in became the girl standing on a soapbox for Mavericks,
To help the world better understand those that didn’t fit in. Because without understanding each other as humans, our unique abilities, and ways of working
How on earth do we expect to innovate and do our best work together to push humanity forward. This isn’t a job, it’s a way of life.

That moment when you get to meet the amazing human who believed and made your book a reality.
Mike Pell inventor of the pdf and Envisioneer at Microsoft garage NYC.
Amazing afternoon exploring mavericks and their wisdom, the future of visualizing business, leadership, art, love, life, and the universe.
And of course eating cake!!!
Question of the day?
How does your brain even create this?
Well, it just kinda starts connecting the dots.
AKA - I can't really explain it!!!

Always believed Warren Edward Buffett was a in a league of his own.

Start reading and well...

"I feel like I'm on my back and there's the Sistine Chapel and I'm painting away. I like it when people say, 'Gee, that's a pretty good-looking painting.' But it's my painting, and when somebody says, 'Why don't you use more red instead of blue?' Good-bye. It's my painting. And I don't care what they sell it for. The painting by itself will never be finished. That's one of the greatest things about it.

"The big question about how people behave is whether they've got an Inner Scorecard or an Outer Scorecard. It helps if you can be satisfied with an Inner Scorecard. I always post it this way. I say: 'Lookit. Would you rather be the world's greatest lover, but have everyone think you're the world's worst lover? Or would you rather be the world's worst lover but have everyone think you're the world's greatest lover? Now that's an interesting question.

Here's another one. If the world couldn't see your results, would you rather be thought of as the world's greatest investor but in reality have the world's worst record? Or be thought of as the world's worst investor when you were actually the best?

In teaching your kids, I think the lesson they're learning at a very very early age is what their parents put emphasis on. If all the emphasis is on what the world's going to think about you, forgetting about how you really behave, you'll wind up with an Outer Scorecard. Now my dad: He was a 100% Inner Scorecard guy.

He was REALLY a maverick. But he wasn't a maverick for the sake of being a maverick. He just didn't care what other people thought. My dad taught me how life should be lived. I've never seen anybody quite like him."

Respect to the men from a girl with 100% Inner Scorecard who grew up in a home where the Outer Scorecard was all the mattered.

Interesting to share links with and John Hagel's work on in today's Innovation Lab webinar.

1. "Explorers have a long-term commitment to achieving in a specific domain that excites them — anything from factory work or financial services to gardening or big wave surfing.

2. They are excited in the face of unexpected . Explorers view these hurdles as an to learn and achieve even greater impact. In fact, if they’re not confronted with enough challenges, they get bored and seek environments that will give them more.

3. When confronted with new challenges, explorers have an immediate desire to seek out and connect with others who can help them get to better answers faster so that they can increase their impact."

Been researching for a decade
Challenge after challenge confronted and overcome

need to do more to understand the value of and the conditions that drive

Who are mavericks? They are the weird kids in the playground. The ones that stand out simply because they are not like everyone else around them. They are not concerned with trying to fit in, but they still want to play with the other children. And when they grow up, these very same mavericks in and around the , probably including yours.

Totally stoked to be interviewed by Ian Burbidge Head of Innovation and Change The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce) about

is the backbone of yet is hampered by the lack of empirical evidence on individual factors that are most conducive to innovation.

What can we learn from those who have long been and by going against the grain?

And thank you Ian for sharing the story of Wynne Fletcher, your Nan, who trained during the second world war as a wireless mechanic yet on arrival at a Lincolnshire airbase was sent to the typing pool. She soon found a way to overcome the assumptions of the base commander and do the job she was really there for, ensuring the equipment onboard the aircraft was operating effectively, on occasion accompanying the crew on bombing sorties.

Reminds me of Movie.

What can we learn from those ‘Mavericks’ who have long been transforming society and business by going against the grain?

with as whilst sailing San Franciso bay was a great way to celebrate book coming out!!!

Many of the mavericks interviewed used TopGun in their definition of a maverick.

Mavericks - a challenge because they won't conform.
Yet in taking risks find different ways to a solution.
Isn't that what is all about?
Businesses need a Maverick in their to help them see the alternative way.

Do you feel the need?
The need for speed?
