Yesterday we kicked off our U.S. Department of State SURE Program in Romania, Poland, Slovakia, and Moldova!

Working with our colleagues at American Councils, 16 university student teams will create innovative campaigns to promote social cohesion by countering Russian propaganda designed to sow tensions with refugees from Ukraine and their host communities. Can’t wait to see which top university teams will be joining us in Bucharest, Romania this summer to present their SURE projects!

We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the families who lost loved ones, the students of Nashville Covenant School, and the entire community during this difficult time.

Each and every one of us has a role to play in prevention. Whether it’s calling on our elected officials, fostering inclusion and connectedness, recognizing warning signs, or working to educate others- we can all do our part to help prevent senseless acts of violence from occurring within our communities.

Invent2Prevent was invited to participate and exhibit at the 2022 Pennsylvania School Safety Conference in Philadelphia.

An impressive group of subject matter experts spoke about and addressed the topics of school violence, the rise of hate, and a variety of other relevant issues. Conference speakers and attendees included Pennsylvania School Safety Officials, representatives from U.S. Department of Homeland Security, FBI, CISA, PA State Police as well as over 250 district superintendents, school principals, and school safety and prevention officers.

Tony Sgro, CEO of EdVenture Partners, was active all day long introducing dozens of curious educators and school administrators throughout the state of Pennsylvania to Invent2Prevent, and generated lots of interest to participate.

Exciting news to share that was just released from the White House’s United We Stand summit to combat online extremism! YouTube is now supporting EdVenture Partners and the McCain Institute’s Invent2Prevent (I2P) high school and collegiate initiative. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, I2P challenges students to develop social and digital media campaigns to prevent targeted violence and hate with creative campaigns that ‘they’ believe will be most effective in addressing these growing threats at their schools and in their communities.

The Department of Homeland Security recently announced the results of our Invent2Prevent final competition in Washington, D.C. It has been a pleasure working with the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships office at DHS as well as The McCain Institute.

Through the integration of this program, we have been able to offer a plethora of benefits to students, faculty, and institutions including scholarships, awards, career readiness skills, higher academic attainment, and more. Check out what DHS has to say with the link below.
