Some of the biggest transformations in life don’t happen because we had a perfect plan.

They happen because we said yes before we felt fully ready.

This blog post dives into what I call the “Adventure–Awe Loop”:

✨ Adventure creates awe
✨ Awe builds confidence
✨ Confidence makes the next adventure possible

And the cycle keeps expanding who we become.

Adventure doesn’t always mean climbing mountains or booking a flight across the world.

Sometimes it’s:
• Starting over
• Meeting new people
• Having a hard conversation
• Trying something uncomfortable
• Choosing growth instead of staying safe

Awe changes us because it reminds us we’re capable of more than we thought.

If you’ve been craving more aliveness, more connection, or more meaning lately… this one’s for you.

Earlier this year I tried something that stuck with me…

Make a list of everything you worried about last year
that never actually happened.

Not the hard things.
Not the real challenges.

Just the imagined ones.

And wow… the real takeaway wasn’t the list.
It was how much energy I had already spent living in those “what if” scenarios.

Worry feels productive—but it’s not.
It’s just rehearsing a future that may never exist.

As Erma Bombeck said:
“Worrying is like a rocking chair… it gets you nowhere.”

This blog breaks down:
✨ what worry is actually doing to your body
✨ why it drains your energy
✨ a simple practice to interrupt the cycle

It also includes a downloadable resource you can use yourself.

If this resonates, it’s worth a read.

Presence opens the door.
Safety determines whether anyone walks through it.

Some conversations naturally go deep.

Others stay careful, polite, and just a little guarded.

The difference often isn’t the questions being asked—it’s whether people feel safe enough to answer honestly.

In my latest article, I explore:

• Why safety is felt, not declared
• How small moments of vulnerability create trust
• The subtle ways we unintentionally shut conversations down
• Why psychological safety matters in leadership, relationships, and everyday life

Creating safety isn’t a technique.

It’s a practice in how we show up.

If you’re interested in deeper conversations, stronger teams, and more meaningful relationships, I think you’ll enjoy this one.

I recently shared a personal reflection on something I’m working on every day: being more present.

Presence isn’t about having the right words — it’s about creating space for people to feel heard and received. Writing this reminded me how powerful simple curiosity and quiet listening can be.

If you’re looking for a meaningful intention for the year ahead, I hope this resonates: https://www.livebrightnow.com/the-blog/presence-is-medicine

This Christmas, I heard a story that stopped me in my tracks.

A friend chose not to exchange things with her grown children—but instead shared something far more lasting: simple breathing practices to help them regulate stress, calm their nervous systems, and come back to themselves when life feels overwhelming.

It got me thinking about what we really pass down.

I wrote about it in my latest blog post, The Gift of Breath: Resilience Worth Passing Down. If you’ve ever wondered what truly lasts—or how we can support the next generation in deeper ways—this one’s for you.

One breath at a time. 🤍

As we approach the end of the year, I’ve been thinking about the difference between what sustains us and what truly awakens us.

I call these the Tin Cup and the Heart Cup.

The Tin Cup holds our work, structure, and stability—the things that make life function.
The Heart Cup holds meaning, connection, joy, growth, and those moments that remind us who we are.

When one is full and the other is empty, life can feel off—even if everything looks “good” on paper.

This short reflection is a gentle year-end pause to ask:
What filled each cup this year?
And what might you want more of in the year ahead?

For our 20th wedding anniversary, we returned to the place where it all began—Convict Lake—and created Camp Candy Matt: an adult summer camp for 30 of our favorite people.

There were cabins, campfires, silly skits, and so much laughter. But in between the play, we discovered something bigger—a masterclass in leadership.

🌲 When people feel safe, they get creative.
🔥 When everyone’s included, connection thrives.
💫 When the stakes are low, engagement soars.
❤️ When joy leads, purpose follows.

It turns out, the best lessons in leadership can happen around a campfire.

One simple practice changed how I think about recognition:

✨ At a recent conference, every speaker walked on stage to a standing ovation—before saying a single word.

It was powerful because it offered trust, belonging, and affirmation upfront.

I wrote about why this matters—not just at conferences, but in our workplaces and even at home.
