While you were sleeping, the quick thinking of a security guard leads to the recovery of a stolen firearm.

On May 15 around 2:45 am, officers responded to Shorepoint Court after a caller reported that they attempted to intervene in a disturbance and were confronted with a firearm. As the events unfolded, the caller, a security guard, remained on the phone with APD dispatchers. Patrol officers quickly arrived and were able to locate and safely take the individual seen brandishing the firearm into custody.

We would like to applaud the heroism displayed by the security guard who instinctively helped a fellow community member in need. Your act of compassion and diligence help make Alameda a safer place to live, work, and play.
