It is with profound sadness and a heart full of gratitude that I share the news of my father, Fredric Litto 's passing, who left us last night.
Words cannot fully express the depth of loss I feel, but I want to honor him, not just as my father, but as the extraordinary man, visionary, and pioneer that he was. My father was a man who lived his life with purpose and passion. He was a trailblazer in education, a brilliant mind who pioneered the use of technology in education and revolutionized the way we think about learning. He founded the Associação Brasileira de Educação a Distância (ABED) and served as its president for many years, helping to bring knowledge and opportunity to countless individuals in Brazil and around the world.
But beyond his professional accomplishments, which I could spend days recounting with pride, my father was my hero, my best friend, and the person I always turned to for advice, guidance, and inspiration. He was not just a brilliant academic but a man of deep compassion, integrity, and love for his family. Everything I am today, I owe to him.
I have lost my guiding light, the person who shaped my world, and my heart is broken. My father was more than an educator or a scholar—he was my rock, my mentor, and my friend. He taught me the meaning of perseverance, hard work, and humility. His legacy will live on, not just through his monumental contributions to education, but through the love and wisdom he imparted to me and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
While the grief is immeasurable, so is the pride I carry for having had the honor of being his daughter. I will carry his teachings, his passion for learning, and his unshakable dedication to making the world a better place through education in my heart forever.
Rest in peace, Dad. You will be missed beyond words, but your light will continue to shine in every life you touched, every mind you opened, and in the love you so freely gave to those around you.
