"Autonomous" doesn't mean no people.

Ross Boreham, Head of Healthcare for Europe at Automation Anywhere, put it plainly in a recent session with Karen Ceesay, Deputy Chief People Officer at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust:

Between 50 and 70% of what most people in operational roles do every day is transactional. Administrative. Work that doesn't require their judgment; it just requires their time.
That's the work automation is designed to absorb.

To give people back the bandwidth to act as the strategic business partner their organisation actually needs them to be. To go after the bigger problems, the ones that genuinely matter and that, if we're honest, most professionals got into their field to solve.

That's what an autonomous people services function looks like in practice. Fewer AI signals. Better use of people.

The full conversation between Ross and Karen, including how Leicester NHS Trust is building toward exactly that, is available on demand.

Families in need across 21 countries now receive food support 93% faster.

The program began as a single back-office task in South Africa. A volunteer congregation leader orders groceries for a family; a local store fills the order; the two rarely match exactly. Our platform then reconciles order against fulfillment and processes payment to the retailer.

Today the church is running the program across 27 countries, from small retailers in Mongolia and Peru to end-to-end automation with Walmart and Kroger: order entry, payment, and home delivery.

Next comes agentic AI. The church spans 187 countries and 33,000 local units run entirely by volunteers, and the goal is 24/7 support that shrinks their administrative burden so their hours go to helping people.

This is automation measured in time given back, and in groceries on a family's table.
Watch the clip below with Travis Green, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as he shares their journey.

We announced our vision with OpenAI in January. Today we're shipping the first product from it.

Our agentic Procure-to-Pay solution is live.

Vikram Khosla, our CFO, spends a lot of time with finance leaders, and what he hears is pretty consistent: teams with real expertise are spending significant capacity on exception handling, manual reconciliation, and approval chasing — work that crowds out the stuff that actually requires their judgment.

"Every exception that requires human investigation, every invoice that stalls in a queue, every approval that waits on a handoff is a strategic tax on the business. Our agentic Procure-to-Pay solution gives finance leaders a way to automate the routine, govern the exceptions, and give their teams back the capacity to do work that moves the business forward."

Our agentic Procure-to-Pay solution is the newest addition to Autonomous Finance, a suite of AI-powered solutions for the Office of the CFO built on the AI-native agentic architecture Automation Anywhere announced in collaboration with OpenAI earlier this year.

Mihir Shukla was at the Citi 2026 Global TMT Conference this week.

He was asked about customer outcomes with agentic AI. His answer: a medical device manufacturer with $75 million in backlog orders it couldn't ship. Parts availability was the ceiling. Deterministic automation got the process to 30% and stopped there.

The team fed 300,000 parts data sheets into the model. An agent workflow identified valid replacements, cleared the orders, and ran at 80% automation.

$65 million in backlog revenue recovered.

His argument: the gap between where most enterprises sit today and what's actually possible with agentic AI is closable.

More from Mihir's session at Citi 2026 Global TMT Conference coming soon.

In two weeks, MW Components took purchase order compliance from 84% to 100%. Jingrong Wang, the company's Director of Digital Transformation, says the change showed up immediately in customer satisfaction.

The path toward more autonomous operations tends to start the same way: win on the predictable, repetitive work first, then bring in AI that can reason through the exceptions instead of just flagging them.

Jingrong walks through the program in the video.

Karen Ceesay, Deputy Chief People Officer at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, described how her team transformed the bank shift validation process for medical staffing.

Previously, a junior doctor administrator had to manually cross-reference at least three separate systems to determine whether a shift was needed and who could cover it. At the scale of a trust with over 1,000 consultants, that process was unsustainable.

Today, agentic AI pulls from all of those data sources simultaneously, surfaces insight that wasn't achievable manually at that volume, and flags what the human decision-maker needs to act on. The human stays in the loop as the final authority on clinical safety and complex decisions, not a passive checkpoint in an automated chain. The process moved from highly manual to up to 70% autonomous.

What Karen's team demonstrated is something every operations and workforce leader in healthcare should consider: the goal is to stop wasting human judgment on work a system can do better and faster, so it's available for the decisions that actually need it.

The full session is available on demand.

Some of the most valuable conversations about the product happen when customers, partners, and product teams sit down together to map real-world challenges with real-world outcomes.

Our teams spent the day at the Automation Anywhere office in Bengaluru, listening, learning, and capturing a few reflections on what it takes to build solutions that are practical, maintainable, and grounded in business value. 👇

Jenna Saunders started out teaching. Now she's an IT engineer at the University of Phoenix and an Automation Anywhere MVP, and automation is what pulled her into tech.

In higher ed, one process can cross a dozen departments. Automating those handoffs saves time and gives stakeholders a clear view of work they used to only see in pieces.
