Welcome to Tiny Tuesday, a new series all about the small organizing changes that make everyday spaces work so much better.

First up: linen closets. They’re notoriously hard to keep tidy, but a few small changes make a big difference.

- Sort by room (and bed size!) so you’re never digging through piles trying to figure out if that’s the queen or the full sheet set
- Contain each set in its own bin for grab-and-go bed changes
- Use open mesh baskets for towels so air flows through and nothing gets musty

Junk drawer drama is real. According to Oh So Spotless, 88% of people have at least one.

The good news is that a junk drawer does not have to feel like a tiny disaster zone. Clear organizers, simple labels, and designated sections can turn it into a space where batteries, tape, scissors, keys, and all the other “little things” are actually easy to find. And when the same items keep ending up in the drawer, that is usually a sign they deserve a proper home. A little structure goes a long way, even in the messiest drawer in the house.

Behind every beautifully organized space is a slightly less beautifully organized collection of bins, products, tools, labels, and project supplies waiting for their next assignment.

So yes, even professional organizers have garage struggles. Mine just happens to look suspiciously like the storage aisle moved in.

The best organizing systems do not begin with the space. They begin with the person.

This summer, I have had the privilege of helping families prepare apartments at , a new residential community in Half Moon Bay supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they move toward greater independence.

Every resident has different routines, preferences, needs, and interests—which means every home requires a different approach. This experience has been deeply meaningful to me and has reinforced why thoughtful organization should support the person using the space, rather than asking them to adapt to a system that does not work for them.

That same principle can make a huge difference at home, especially during back-to-school season. Backpack stations, paper systems, closets, and morning routines are much easier to maintain when they are designed around how your child naturally moves through their day.

Sometimes the biggest changes are the ones you didn’t even know your home needed.

For this busy family of four, the goal was to create systems that could keep up with kids, work, school, crafts, toys, and everyday chaos. By rethinking how each room was used and giving the kid things clear homes, the whole house started to breathe again. A few smart zones, a few hard editing decisions, and suddenly the grown-ups had their serenity back. Life changing, with fewer toys underfoot.
