We knew this video might stir some controversy. Many of the tens of thousands of clients we’ve worked with have developed an emotional attachment to their virtual address—much like small business owners feel about their website or logo. Others have committed to annual contracts, making the topic even more delicate. Further complicating the issue are bloggers and so-called business credit builders who misrepresent virtual offices. They often promote ideas—like renting a “suite” with access to a desk for meetings—or try to reframe virtual offices as something they’re not, all to bypass address verification algorithms designed to flag PO boxes and similar setups.
Some clickbait business credit content platforms even warn against virtual offices, only to promote the same questionable practices—often using affiliate links to vendors like Opus or DaVinci. The truth is, higher-layer lenders and vendors frequently run a quick Google search of the business address. If the search reveals multiple businesses at the same location, such as a strip mall with hundreds of companies differentiated only by “suite” numbers from virtual office providers, it’s clear to lenders that the address is just a mail drop. In these cases, lenders reject applications, requiring a real, physical business address.
While privacy concerns are valid—especially given how easily someone’s home address can be found online—there isn’t a reliable workaround for this issue. That’s why we’ve guided thousands of small businesses through these challenges, helping them build credit the right way. Moving beyond basic net-30 vendors, gas cards, and retail credit requires establishing full credit ratings with Dun & Bradstreet and building strong Experian files. These solid profiles unlock access to higher-layer credit cards and substantial approvals.
Every week, we hear from frustrated business owners who have spent a year or more following DIY advice from blogs or YouTube, only to find themselves confused and questioning whether business credit even works. Many have wasted time and money on affiliate-linked vendors that promise to report to credit bureaus but often don’t—or hit roadblocks because they relied on virtual office addresses.
At TrueBuild, we’ve spent decades delivering real results for our clients. Our advice may seem counterintuitive—especially when compared to the hundreds of sources focused on generating affiliate revenue or inbound marketing clicks. But we stand by what works—because we’re accountable for your success, not just views.
