We love seeing small businesses grow! 🤍

Meet Bijou Bakery: In June 2020, Jeniece Grimshaw started Bijou with just herself and two other employees.

Six years later, Bijou has grown into a true community favorite with a team of 12, serving locally roasted coffee, fresh pastries, and house-made quiche. 🥐

It’s been amazing to see how far Jeniece and Bijou have come, and we’re proud to have been a part of their journey!

📍 Stop by Bijou Bakery at 149 Cayucos Dr. in Cayucos and see what makes it so special.

August is Black-Owned Business Month, and we're proud to celebrate entrepreneurs who are making a lasting impact in our community.

Meet Kolby Jay, founder of DooDoo Slayers—a business built on hard work, determination, and a commitment to serving San Luis Obispo County. What started as a yard waste removal company has grown into a full-service operation, now offering yard prep and pressure washing as well.

Kolby's motivation goes beyond business success: he wanted to set an example for his daughter, showing her firsthand what it looks like to build something from the ground up through passion and perseverance. We're proud to support him as he continues to grow DooDoo Slayers.

Join us this month in recognizing and supporting local Black-owned businesses that strengthen our communities, create opportunities, and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. 💚

👋 Meet Rolando, one of our incredible advisors at the Cal Poly CIE SBDC!

Rolando has been with the SBDC for 8 years as a Finance Advisor, helping entrepreneurs build confidence through strategic financial planning and informed decision-making.

"I do long-term planning with my SBDC clients. Usually, it’s the first time they’ve thought comprehensively about the business. At the start, we dig deep into a set of assumptions. This process is instrumental in helping them understand exactly how all the components of their business interrelate, and serves as a validation test for their growth aspirations. The finished plan isn’t just theoretical, it becomes a tangible ex*****on map."

Rolando’s favorite part of working with small businesses is: "Helping clients make decisions from a position of confidence and gain a command of their business they never had before."

We’re so grateful for Rolando’s expertise and dedication to helping small businesses thrive across the Central Coast! 🙌
