Three questions to ask before you sign an access control proposal.

1. Is the installer C-7 licensed? In California, commercial low-voltage work requires it. Unlicensed work isn't insurable — and that matters the day a door fails during an emergency egress event.

2. Who administers credentials after go-live? If re-keying a badge means a service call, the system was designed for the installer, not for you.

3. Does access tie back to video? "Who swiped in?" and "what did the camera see?" should be one answer on one dashboard, not two systems and a phone call.
