How long does it take our mushrooms to grow?

It depends on the species! Our mushrooms are grown anywhere from 6-10 weeks depending on the demands of its species. King Oyster mushrooms take the longest to mature while the Bunapi and Bunashimeji are mush quicker to finish. One thing is for sure: every mushroom is grown and packaged with the utmost care at our San Marcos factory location before it's delivered to your local grocery store.

Send off summer ☀️ & welcome fall 🍁 with this delicious marinade

Ingredients:
1 package Hokto Kinoko King Oyster Mushrooms
1 eggplant
2 orange peppers
1 package green beans

For the Marinade:
1 part sushi vinegar
1 part soy sauce
add sugar as desired

For Butter Sauce:
1/4 cups unsalted butter
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp lemon juice
parsley (as desired)

Directions:
1. Cut King Oyster mushrooms, eggplant, and peppers into long pieces. Cut off the edges of the green beans & make them a similar length to the other vegetables.
2. Boil the veggies for about 5 minutes.
3. In a separate bowl, combine sushi vinegar and soy sauce. Place boiled veggies in the marinade for 1-2 hours.
4. Combine butter sauce ingredients to make butter sauce.
5. Remove veggies from marinade and place in a bowl. Cover with butter sauce. Serve & enjoy!

Your friendly reminder that Hokto Kinoko mushrooms DON'T need to be washed before cooking! You are more than welcome to dab them with a wet paper towel if you choose, but it's not necessary. Our mushrooms are not directly touched by human hands during production.

An easy salad recipe for Mushroom Month!

Ingredients:
1/2 package Hokto Kinoko Bunapi mushrooms
1/2 package Hokto Kinoko Bunashimeji mushrooms
1/4 red pepper
1 package of watercress
1/2 Apple

Dressing:
4 tbsp Olive Oil
4 tsp Lemon Juice
1/2 tsp Salt ½
Black Pepper as you like

Directions:
1. Cut the bases of the mushrooms and separate them into bite sized pieces.
2. In a pot of boiling water, cook mushrooms (about 3-4 minutes).
3. Dice red pepper & apples.
4. Combine dressing ingredients.
4. In a bowl, toss chopped ingredients with fresh watercress and top with dressing.

FULL RECIPE BELOW!
Celebrate National Mushroom Month with this out of this world mushroom pizza flatbread recipe!

INGREDIENTS:
1 package Hokto Kinoko maitake mushrooms
1 package salami
1 pound of pizza dough
Tomato sauce
Black olives
Olive oil
Salt & Pepper
Cheese (optional)

DIRECTIONS:
1. Heat oven to 450F
2. Cut base off of maitake mushrooms and separate into smaller florets.
3. To make a 10-inch pizza, cut the dough in half and start rolling it out. Make sure to prick the dough with a fork all over to make sure it stays flat while cooking. Brush the edges of the dough with oilve oil & sprinkle salt and pepper on the dough.
4. Spread tomato sauce over flatbread.
5. Bake flatbread for 8-12 min, or until golden brown at the edges. Remove from oven.
6. Add maitake mushrooms, olives, salami, and cheese to flatbread. Place back in over for 5-10 minutes.

It doesn't get easier (or more delicious)! Bacon wrapped mushrooms perfect for your last outdoor hurrah before autumn sets in! ⁠

INGREDIENTS: ⁠
1/2 package Hokto Kinoko Maitake mushrooms ⁠
1/2 package Hokto Kinoko Bunapi mushrooms⁠
1/2 package Hokto Kinoko Bunashimeji mushrooms ⁠
1 package bacon⁠

DIRECTIONS: ⁠
1. Cut the bases of the mushrooms. Separate mushrooms into bite-sized pieces. ⁠
2. Wrap each mushroom bite in a strip of bacon. ⁠
3. Place on baking sheet with light coating of oil. ⁠
4. Cook until bacon is thoroughly browned and crispy or to desired texture. ⁠
