Parabilis Space Technologies

Parabilis Space Technologies Parabilis is a San Diego area Aerospace start-up focused on innovative, low cost, propulsion and small satellite technologies.

Parabilis Space Technologies Inc., was formed by a core group of passionate engineers who share the goal of providing affordable aerospace solutions that will catalyze the emerging New-Space industry. Our areas of expertise include propulsion vehicles and systems, small satellites, sounding rockets, vehicle component integration, and ground testing. We are leveraging the extensive space heritage o

f our founders to build an exciting company that will meet the current and future needs of our customers, and provide a fun place for our employees to pursue their dreams. Our engineering jobs are deliberately designed so that technical employees are intimately involved with their products through the entire product life cycle (from concept, design, development, through manufacturing, and into commercialization). This makes our jobs atypical in the aerospace industry, where most engineering jobs are highly specialized. Our engineers love the task variety as well as the product intimacy they experience at Parabilis. Parabilis is a Delaware corporation located in San Marcos, CA, and is an SBA-registered and HUBZone certified business.

Like many others in the aerospace industry, Parabilis engineer Russell Babb is a pilot and very passionate about flying. He is a certified private pilot in both Single-Engine Land aircraft and Gliders. On many weekends Russell can be found at Hemet-Ryan Airport in Hemet, CA where he flies with the Cypress Soaring Glider Club. “I love the freedom of flight, the new perspective it gives and the challenge it provides.” The posted video shows Russell at the controls of a Schweizer 1-34 sticking a near-perfect landing.

Russell joined Parabilis in 2020 after graduating with a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Utah State University. He is a key technical contributor on several Parabilis programs including a hybrid rocket motor for hypersonic flight and a novel wireless transducer device. Russell also adds substantial value to our non-public in-space propulsion programs for the US government. “Parabilis has allowed me to learn and grow as an engineer, challenged me to try new things and be a part of cool technologies.”

News Release: Parabilis Announces Three NASA Program Wins

Parabilis Space Technologies Inc. was recently awarded three additional NASA contracts to design, develop, and test new space technologies. “We are extremely pleased with these important NASA program wins,” said Dave Streich, Chief Executive Officer. “These programs contribute directly to NASA’s goals, and add substantially to the product portfolio of Parabilis.”

Orbital Transfer Stage Program

In collaboration with USC, Parabilis will design and deliver an Orbital Transfer Stage (OTS). This modular propulsion system is specifically designed for Nanosats and Microsats requiring orbit insertion, tactical change maneuvering, or launch vehicle collision avoidance.

Liquid Injection Thrust Vector Control (LITVC) System

Parabilis will design, build, and hot fire test a subscale Liquid Injection Thrust Vector Control (LITVC) system with a regeneratively-cooled, additively-manufactured nozzle to address the steering needs of interplanetary sample return missions. Sample return from extraterrestrial bodies is critical to advancing human understanding of the solar system, and is a core part of the NASA Science Plan.

Dynamically Adjustable 3D-Printed Venturi

Parabilis will develop and test a dynamically-adjustable, in-line, cavitating flow-control and measurement venturi for use in advanced propulsion system ground testing. Lightweight, minimalistic additive manufacturing designs are typically cheaper than traditionally machined parts, providing a significant advantage to the aerospace industry, where mass comes at a premium.

Day in and day out, Parabilis engineers work as an efficient and effective team to achieve amazing things. Until the annual holiday party. Then it's "everyone for themselves" in the brutal ping pong tournament, and "screw your colleague" in the white elephant gift exchange.
