On Friday, June 26, the ILWU, PMA, and wider maritime community met at the Dalmatian-American Club for the 21st Annual ILWU/PMA Luncheon. For 21 years, this luncheon has been made possible by one fact: On the waterfront, people take care of their own. That’s why, SA Recycling, Terminal Island proudly sponsored the event, it wasn’t just to share a meal but to connect with and invest directly in the youth of our community. Each year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor serves 2,600 youth across 26 Club sites, providing arts, athletics, academic support, mentorship, and college and workforce readiness. Together on Friday, the funds that were raised will continue to keep these programs running. The luncheon is one day, but the work is year-round.

SA Recycling in San Diego recently joined the Multicultural Fair at Burbank Elementary School! We loved watching the students perform traditional dances from the countries they studied and enjoyed some truly delicious food.
It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with our neighbors and share how SA Recycling serves the community. We chatted with families about everyday household items they can recycle for cash and handed out fun merchandise and coloring books to the kids.

Burbank Elementary Field trip for Earth Day week 4/20/2026

We had a great time hosting 36 students and staff from Burbank Elementary during Earth Day week at our San Diego Main St. facility! Students enjoyed a hands-on tour of our operations, such as car depollution and metal baling to seeing heavy machinery in action. The students were able to learn about recycling through videos and activities that we planned for them.

The excitement and curiosity from the students made it a truly memorable day. We’re proud to help inspire the next generation of recyclers!

Thank you to Burbank Elementary for partnering with us, and huge appreciation to our yard crew for creating a safe, engaging, and welcoming experience for all.

SA Recycling proudly sponsored the 2025 Forgiving Futures Gala in support of Workshop for Warriors, a non-profit that provides training to veterans in the manufacturing industry. Our team from San Diego and Region General Manager, Moises Figueroa attended the event and had the opportunity to experience an unforgettable evening aboard the USS Midway Museum.

The evening was a memorable celebration, uniting over 300 supporters, community leaders, and industry partners to recognize the achievements of our nation’s veterans and the life-changing impact of advanced manufacturing training.
