What a fantastic day at the Rotary Club of San Pedro!

Yesterday, we had the honor of welcoming District Governor Brady Connell for his official District Governor visit to our club.

DG Brady shared his Rotary journey and spoke about the incredible impact Rotary makes around the world. Through his travels and experiences as District Governor, including attending international Rotary events, he has had the opportunity to see firsthand just how far the work of Rotarians reaches and how our local service connects to something much bigger.

We also had plenty to celebrate within our own club!

Ron Hoppell was recognized with his Paul Harris +8 pin for his continued generosity and commitment to The Rotary Foundation.

We proudly welcomed two new members to the Rotary Club of San Pedro. Harbor Community Health Center was inducted as a Corporate Member, with Tamra King serving as the primary member, and David De Anda, local real estate agent and owner of The Corner Store in San Pedro, was officially inducted into our Rotary family.

District Governor Connell recognized newer member Brian Cornelius with the Rising Star Award for the enthusiasm and commitment he has already brought to our club.

Marco Vasquez received the Lasting Impact Award for his leadership and dedication to our Shields4Kids project.

And of course, Rica Viola received the Have Fun & Get It Done Award, a perfect recognition of the trademark energy, enthusiasm, and fun she brings to every Rotary project she touches!

Our President also presented DG Connell a check for $1,000.00 towards this year’s District Humanitarian Trip to Chile.

Thank you, District Governor Brady Connell, for spending the day with the Rotary Club of San Pedro and for inspiring us to continue making an impact here at home and around the world.

One of the unwritten benefits of attending a Rotary Club of San Pedro meeting is the beautiful view of the pool, the Port of Los Angeles, and the skyline of Long Beach.

What a great day at the Rotary International - District 5280 Picnic!

The Rotary Club of San Pedro had a fantastic time connecting with fellow Rotarians from across the district, enjoying some friendly competition, and celebrating the fellowship that makes Rotary so special.

And we’re proud to say Team San Pedro paddled its way to 2nd place in the Cardboard Boat Race!

Thank you to District 5280 and everyone who helped make the picnic such a fun and memorable day. We’re already looking forward to next year!

Thank you to David Henseler, President of the South Bay Sunrise Rotary Club and Co-Chair of Rotary International - District 5280 Camp Pendleton Committee, for joining us today at the Rotary Club of San Pedro!

David shared the history and impact of the District’s ongoing Camp Pendleton collection project, which helps provide much-needed household goods, clothing, baby supplies, and other essentials to young military families through the Warrior Warehouse.

It was inspiring to hear how this project has continued to grow through the generosity and collaboration of Rotary Clubs throughout District 5280.

Thank you, David, for sharing this important project with our club and for your continued commitment to Service Above Self!

Today, the Rotary Club of San Pedro had the pleasure of recognizing an outstanding group of young people and celebrating their hard work, dedication, and bright futures.

We were proud to honor our Students of the Year, along with two vocational scholarship recipients from the Port of Los Angeles High School Welding and Construction Program. These scholarships help support students pursuing skilled trades and careers that will strengthen our community for years to come.

We were also honored to present a special scholarship to the daughter of longtime Rotarian and Past President Caroline Brady, continuing a meaningful connection between Rotary, education, and generations of service.

Supporting education and investing in young people is one of the many ways Rotary works to create lasting impact in our community. Congratulations to all of this year’s students and scholarship recipients! We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next. 💙💛
