Treating work-in-progress as a finshed masterpiece is a game changer. Sometimes you just have to call it art and walk away. 😂

Sometimes, the way back to yourself isn’t through thinking—it’s through making.

A mark on paper.
A meal.
A garden.
A song.
A room rearranged.
A new idea.

Creating gives us a moment where we get to say, I chose this. I made this. This is mine.

You don’t have to make something meaningful.
You just have to make something.

Start there.

There’s a big difference between making art and providing creative experiences for others. ❤

As an artist, I can follow an idea, experiment, get messy, change direction, and let the work evolve.

As the founder of an art studio, my creativity has a different responsibility.

I’m thinking about the experience from beginning to end: the environment, the materials, the class, the people walking through the door, the team, the budget, the schedule, the marketing, and how to make sure everyone feels inspired and supported.

Sometimes, being the founder means putting my own art practice aside so I can create the space for other people to create.

And that is still creative work.

In fact, I’ve learned that building a studio is its own kind of art.

It takes vision, imagination, problem-solving, intuition, experimentation, and a willingness to keep creating even when the canvas looks nothing like what you originally imagined.

I’m not just making art anymore.

I’m creating opportunities for art to happen.

And there’s something incredibly fulfilling about that. 🎨
