Today we celebrated the Groundbreaking of Tizon: 175 units of affordable housing for seniors age 62+ and 3 manager units. Tizon is an adaptive rehabilitation of a former hotel in Rancho Bernardo. This new community building at Pleasant Valley Pines provides the perfect gathering space for residents as California begins to re-open!

We designed an addition to the existing units to accommodate larger families, including accessibility.

We also secured the envelope with new windows, siding, and roof.

A very pleasant project indeed!😃

We are so proud to announce completion and occupancy at Cottage Village in Manteca CA. 48 new Basis designed units for low income seniors. If it weren’t for Covid we would’ve had a great party with all the new residents who have waited years for this moment. Can’t wait to see the front porches full of residents rocking in the shade and the community gardens up and running this summer. Like all new housing in California this effort took years. Thanks to our great client and builder Trinity Development!

Basis is proud to announce that Zephyr won a San Diego Housing Federation Ruby Award for Best Development of 2019! For this signature project, Basis teamed up with Affirmed Housing to create a vibrant new community housing 84 grateful formerly homeless veterans. The project brought about incredible improvements, both in architecture and the lives of these vets. A run-down Motel 6 and its companion Denny’s have been transformed into a welcoming supportive housing community, and the lives of the residents have changed for the better.

The Ruby Awards honor the San Diego housing industry’s best people, projects, and achievements of the past year. Another Basis project, Vista Las Flores, was among this year’s finalists.

First site visit today to the historic Vintage Tower in San Jose. This beautiful building from the 1920s is a landmark located just across from San Jose’s City hall. We are pleased to be partnering again with our friends at Standard Property to rehab this standout affordable property!

Progress at Golden Apartments San Bernardino, a supportive housing project we are doing with our friends at the County of San Bernardino Housing Authority. Golden was a distressed 21 unit bi-level townhouse property in San Bernardino. We are converting it into 38 flats and extensive service provider space on-site. We have actually split the units vertically, into upper and lower. Golden will soon provide housing to 38 individuals currently sleeping on the street.
