Wrote this for my family but thought I would share:
I went to a CE update on the Canine respiratory illness.
Summary:
The surge in October is decreasing rapidly now as did the surge last October.
There is no new scary disease - just an increase in the ones we already know.
So, be sure your dogs are vaccinated for the usuals - distemper every three years; Influenza and Bordetella (Kennel cough) every year.
There is a new effective oral vaccine that combines the latter two now. (Nobivac Oral BbPi) This is safe and effective.
Almost all the dogs that are dying within 2 weeks of getting respiratory disease are in the 8 + years age group, so for younger dogs that are not brachycephalic (I am thrilled to know no one in our family has fallen for the cruel brachycephalic dogs!), it is probably ok to resume dog parks and play date/doggie daycare situations if they are important to your dog/you especially after getting dogs vaccinated.
For older dogs, it is best to stick with smaller exposures to healthy vaccinated dogs you know.

Just attended a veterinary seminar regarding vegan dog and cat food. Totally changed my understanding of the safety and benefits not only to the planet but to my patients of vegan pet food options. Research and quality vegan options for cats with the added supplements they need as obligate carnivores is not only safe but proven thru three studies to be healthier than traditional cat food. Vegan dog food has also been proven to be healthier than traditional dog food. (10 studies) Both dogs and cat dogs live longer on vegan foods (1.5 years longer for dogs)! Please see this web site for lots of answers.

Sustainable Pet Food For Pets, Their People and Our Planet " The Facts About Vegan Cats and Dogs  Have you ever wondered whether cats can safely go vegan?  What about dogs?  And would they ever want to anyway?  How unnatural would it be?  And how natural are conventional meat-based di...

No bones! No raw food! Just don't do it. This is a poor dog's esophagus after a piece of a bone got stuck. Complicated even more by a raw food diet leading to increased serious infection risk.
