We've noted that Microsoft has now made ESU for Windows 10 available. Please read the following exeprt from their website, and feel free to contact us if you have questions. This makes migrating to a new Windows 11 PC less urgent, but the ESU extension is only for 1 year, so you still should plan to migrate to a Windows 11 compatible PC (or upgrade from W10 to W11 if youre PC supports it). We have already enrolled 3 PC in ESU, and are sure more will follow.

What is the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program?
Microsoft announced last October, the Extended Security Updates (ESU) consumer program that gives the option to receive security updates for eligible Windows 10 PCs enrolled in the program. The program provides customers more time before moving to a Copilot+ PC or other Windows 11 device.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
What do Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) include? What does it exclude?
ESU includes critical and important security updates only. It does not include new features, customer-requested non-security updates, or design change requests. ESU does not include technical support for Windows 10, except for assistance with ESU license activation and installation of ESU updates. No other technical support is available.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who is eligible for the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program?
The ESU program for personal use devices is available in select markets and it is not being expanded to additional regions at this time. In those select markets, any individual using a Windows 10 device on version 22H2 for personal use is eligible. This includes devices that are not managed by an organization or enrolled in enterprise licensing programs.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
How will consumers enroll in the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program?
Enrollment will be available on Windows 10 devices running 22H2 through a built-in tool available in Settings for eligible devices.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
How long does Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) support Windows 10 on my PC?
Windows 10 devices enrolled in the ESU program will continue to receive critical and important security updates through October 13, 2026.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
How much does Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) cost?
Windows 10 ESU is valued at $30 USD per device and can be purchased directly through the Microsoft Store using the built-in tool available in Settings on eligible Windows 10 devices. To help customers stay protected or move to a new device, ESU includes multiple enrollment paths—some at no additional cost:
-Sync your PC’s settings and apps to help you move more easily to a new Windows 11 device.
-Redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points.
-Pay $30 USD.
All transactions will be managed through the Microsoft Store. See Terms of Sale for additional information.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Will Windows 10 PCs stop working without the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) offering?
Windows 10 PCs will continue to function. However, beginning October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide the following for Windows 10 devices:
-Technical support
-Feature updates or new features
-Quality updates (including security and reliability fixes)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I just use antivirus software to stay protected?
While antivirus software—like Microsoft Defender or third-party tools—can help, it’s not enough on its own. Without regular security updates from Microsoft, the operating system remains exposed to new threats. Think of antivirus as a lock on a door, but without ongoing security updates, the doorframe itself may be weak.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do I have to enroll in Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) prior to October 14, 2025?
No, enrollment before October 14, 2025, is not mandatory—but it’s highly recommended. Enrolling by that date ensures customers receive the full benefit of the Windows 10 ESU coverage. Waiting until later won’t extend the coverage window, so enrolling early gives you the most value.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
What happens if I enroll in Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) after October 14, 2025?
You can enroll after the end-of-support date, but the coverage period will not be extended. For example, if you enroll in January 2026, you’ll only receive updates through October 13, 2026. Enrolling early ensures you get the full benefit of the program.
