Look! ๐Ÿ‘€

I made you a sweet video because sometimes I'm still much better at saying things than typing them. (yes, I know that's a little awkward for someone who is writing a book). ๐Ÿคฃ

When I look back, I see that this book was "in the making" the whole time I was working...

I over-did everything:
- top performer
- most exhausted
- most alcohol consumed (well, not the most, but often the most by weight ratio)
- most travel while also raising little kids

No wonder the bottom fell out.

I deeply believe that it was meant to fall out so that I could share this story with you.

I'm so very grateful for the time that I have had to study sickness, wellness, and why we push ourselves to succeed even when our bodies are screaming at us to stop.

Your Brain & New Behaviors

You've seen it a million times and experienced it firsthand even more.

You introduce a new methodology or process to your team, or give them new questions to ask.

It seems like they totally understood and were bought in, but then they completely forget to integrate them.

Itโ€™s not personal.

It takes ๐ŸŒŸ 65 days๐ŸŒŸ of daily practice to rewire our brains.

Imagine this:

If you spent your whole life turning right, but now needed to turn left.

You would have to consciously stop and decide to turn left instead of rightโ€”every day for 65 days. Then, you would automatically (most times) turn left.

The problem arises when weโ€™re moving too fast to consciously stop.

It feels slower. It feels uncomfortable.

But over time, it makes us much more effective.

How can you allow yourself the time you need to stop and consciously choose which way youโ€™re turning?

Commit to the process. Embrace the discomfort. And watch your effectiveness soar.
And if you need help, just let me know!

One of my favorite quotes that radically changed my mindset:

"Act as if the Universe is rigged in your favor."

How would you act if you knew that everything was happening FOR your greater evolution?

Would you breathe a little easier?

Just for today, practice embracing this mindset and watch how it transforms your approach to challenges and opportunities.

Can you trust that each experience is a stepping stone to your growth and success?

Have you tried this mindset shift before?
I'd love to hear how it's worked for you or where you get stuck. Please share in the comments below!

Are you listening or just waiting to talk?

Too often, weโ€™re just waiting for the other person to pause so we can jump in with our thoughts.

But when we do this, we're not truly listening or picking up on the non-verbal cues the other person is sharing.

We miss a huge opportunity to connect and understand what they're REALLY saying.

Is it more important to understand the other person or to convey your point?

Challenge yourself today: Next time youโ€™re in a conversation, focus on truly listening. Put aside your response and tune into whatโ€™s being saidโ€”and whatโ€™s not being said.

Let's elevate our conversations and build deeper connections.

How will you show up as a better listener today?

Hold them capable.๐ŸŒŸ

Whew, when I first heard this phrase, it almost knocked me over.

Itโ€™s completely transformed my management and parenting style.

What if we trusted that people could and would make the best decisions, and if they needed help, theyโ€™d ask?

I still check in to ensure things are going smoothly, but Iโ€™ve significantly reduced my overreaching.

And guess what? Everyone feels more confident and capable as a result.

How about you?

Are you good at holding people capable?

Did you do it?

Did you cannibalize Q3 business to meet your Q2 numbers and now have no idea where to start?

Did you train your customers to devalue your product by offering a limited-time Q2 incentive?

Did you hound your champions until they stopped responding?

Itโ€™s OK. Donโ€™t beat yourself up. Itโ€™s a hard habit to break, especially when you need to hit quota.

Q3 is a chance to do better.

Focus on stopping the discount cycle by positioning yourself as a trusted advisor instead of a vendor.

To change the cycle (to change ANY cycle), your behavior needs to change.

Are you ready to level up this quarter?

and Lessons from a Mom

Last weekend, we were at a very long and very hot tournament when one of the other moms started telling me about a new facility the boys could join for year-round coaching.

She mentioned it was $3-$4k and didn't bat an eye.

Later that day, she told me she bought her son new spikes, but the super-big size he needed was $60 more than the smaller size, so she made him buy the smaller shoes.

Reading this story, you can see the glaring inconsistency โ€“ yet I see this same pattern repeated time and time again in a corporate setting.

Leaders chase the new thingโ€”processes, methodologies, etc.โ€”and are willing to spend big bucks, yet they skimp on the fundamentals that make all the difference. Ignoring these essentials can cause even new ventures to fail.

Where are your teamsโ€™ shoes too tight?
What are you missing?

If the answers arenโ€™t obvious, or if you know the answer but not what to do next, reach outโ€”I love talking fundamentals (and a little baseball! ๐Ÿ˜œ )

Embracing Authenticity and Growth

Authenticity is all the rage these days. Everywhere we turn, we're encouraged to just be ourselves.

Yet, how often does our current perception of ourselves limit us?

We identify with ourselves at a single point in time and say things like, "I'm the kind of person who..."

But we are always changing, and so are our opportunities.

When I was sick, I identified as a sick person, which really limited me as I started to get better.

My mind told my body that I was still sick because thatโ€™s who I had been for so long.

It was hard to believe my situation was changing.

This happens all the timeโ€”in our jobs, lives, and relationships. The situation changes, but our minds are stuck in an old story.

It takes both work and time to notice where things are different and where we need to adapt to meet our new circumstances.

It's also an opportunity for growth.

Are you being offered something that feels beyond your skillset?

Do you really know you can't stretch?

I bet there's a new version of you just dying to meet the next challengeโ€”you just have to let them.

How will you embrace change and unlock your potential today?

Iโ€™ve had new sales managers tell me that were completely blindsided by the โ€œpeopleโ€ aspect of the job. They thought that their job was to help close deals and manage the forecast.

They didnโ€™t expect to have employees calling in tears or with personal issues. (To be honest, I was a little surprised by this when I became a manager too.)

We take our top salespeople, promote them into management, and allow them to figure things out on the fly.

80% of new sales leaders do not receive any leadership/management training!!!

But Research shows us that people donโ€™t leave companies, they leave leaders. (Gallup)

And by not training our leaders โ€“ especially our front-line sales managers, we increase sales attrition rates and put additional stress on those leaders and remaining salespeople โ€“ which leads to burnout and more attrition.

What does your company do to support new leaders?

๐ŸŒŸ When was the last time that you celebrated being brave?๐ŸŒŸ

Itโ€™s something that we tend to take for granted, but when we stop to notice when we were brave and celebrate our bravery (regardless of the outcome), we build our self-confidence and increase our capacity for bravery in the future.

Did you have a hard Teams call/ make an important pitch/ have a difficult conversation with a loved one?

Take a moment to acknowledge that.

Appreciate yourself. Celebrate in a small way. Say that you are proud of yourself.

I know it may feel silly or like you donโ€™t have time, but I guarantee that when you start programming yourself to notice and celebrate bravery, it will come even more easily to you.

*picture is of my celebrating after a very steep hike.

Time with my people is always my favorite time. ๐Ÿ’–

For over 15 years I had chosen Quota over Family. Presidentโ€™s Club over Health.

Those are trades that I hope to never make again.

In fact, the whole reason I created my business was to help others salespeople not have to make the same decisions or suffer my same consequences.

Itโ€™s possible to find balance. โš–๏ธ

Itโ€™s possible to enjoy your family and your career while still taking care of yourself, but it involves thinking and working differently.

Are you willing to change your thinking to change your life?

๐ŸŒŸ Happy People Sell More ๐ŸŒŸ

Yes, people are happy after they close deals, BUT they close MORE deals when they are ALREADY happy.

If your team is missing their numbers, itโ€™s time to look at underlying factors like stress, confidence, and coaching.

FYI โ€“ those things are literally my love languages!
