User Guidelines: The purpose of this page is to present matters of interest to Local 1216 UAW members and the community in general. While it is an online discussion site, and opposing points of view will be respected and presented, the International or Local Union is under no legal obligation to run any post. We try to err on the side of an open and frank debate/discussion while at the same time adhering to the primary goal of the page, which is to promote Local 1216 and International’s viewpoint and that of the labor movement in general. Comments made by UAW members (active and retired) will be given greater latitude than divisive comments made by nonmembers. Abuse of the privilege to comment on the Local Union or International’s page by anyone may result in having posts deleted and/or posting privileges revoked. Abusive comments are defined as: • Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, genetics, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or intellectual disability or sexual orientation. • Use of vulgar, profane or sexually explicit language. • Personal attacks. • Direct threats or implied threats of violence. • Numerous, repetitive posts designed not to enlighten the debate, but to saturate the page with a poster’s own thoughts or that of a particular issue and/or candidate. • Content that spread falsehoods or unsubstantiated rumors about the UAW and its leaders. • Using a fake name/profile. • Clearly off topic content. • Content that advocates illegal activity. • Spam or unauthorized promotion of commercial interests. • Fundraising appeals that are not endorsed by the International Union, UAW or Local 1216. • Infringement on copyrights or trademarks, including those of the International Union, UAW. • Promoting candidates for local, Regional or International union office. Comments expressed on our page are not necessarily the opinions of the International Union, UAW or Local 1216. Private Facebook messages or comments under UAW Local 1216 posts do not constitute notice to the UAW or Local 1216 for purposes of invoking any legal rights you may have. Members are advised that specific questions about grievances, contract issues, in-plant issues, benefits, members' personal discipline cases, UAW Constitutional issues or other matters are best suited to be answered by their local elected representatives.
