****Swedish Flat Plane Whittling & German Wood Carving Classes
This human Figure Carving Class is for any one who would like to learn about Old European wood carving tradition, Swedish Whittling and German Wood Carving from the Alps. You will be given instructions on how to use knives and gouges. Learn how to sharpen your tools. Learn how to choose your subject, find the proper local carving woods and do the figure lay out. You will be shown how to figure carve & paint the figures. Instructor was taught in Augsburg & Munich Germany & Bavarian Alps in 1971-2, and has been a commercial wood carver, designer, craftsman and sculptor for over 30 years. Summer Registration now open. Call Dave at 801-571-6095. Classes run June thru Sept. 3 hr. class p/ wk. in eve. for 8 weeks Location: Old Time Wood Carving Village in Sandy under the shade of the trees. Are not giant old trees with bark on furrowed brows, faces and majestic canopy shade the grandfathers of our world and old carved wood the ghosts of long forgotten ancient times?
