As I continue to reflect on my time in Slovenia, I am reminded of how I got to where I am.
As an educator, I know what it is to invest in students and see them rise to the occasion. I know how much time and energy goes into providing opportunities, helping to build connections, and truly investing in their future.
Knowing this, I recognize those who have provided opportunity for me. The ones who have stepped in and helped me believe I can do more than I ever thought possible.
If you told me a year ago that I would be where I am today, I don’t know that I would have believed you.
The connections I’ve build and people I’ve met… it is immeasurably valuable.
In my time at USM, Dr. Malinda Haslett has been an advocate, advisor, mentor, teacher, and an endless supporter of my work.
Her passion, her knowledge, and her connections are what have helped me get to where I am today.
This post is not to negate the hard work I have done to get where I am, but rather to highlight that a students hard work paired with the right mentors can be paramount to success.
Dr. Malinda Haslett is one example of people who have never stopped supporting me and helping to guide me every step of the way.
More posts of gratitude to come. (Scott Wheatley - you’re up next).
