An amazing weekend full of music!!! So thankful to teach at 🌊🌊🌊

Recitals are so special not only because the students are sharing all they’ve learned, but they are actively learning — on stage, in front of an audience. Every performance brings new challenges and new obstacles to overcome.

The week after recitals are always my favorite because it feels like a fresh start. New music, new goals, and new perspectives!

(Thank you Megan Edmonds Photography for these amazing shots!)

Some moments from masterclass day 2 in Klagenfurt, Austria!

On day 2 we had the opportunity to spend the day in their new hall, Blauer Saal! It was beautiful and the acoustics are wonderful.

Loved working on this music! This day we had some Barber, Bernstein and Weil!

What an awesome trip and some great singers!!!

Just a couple Huskies doing their thing in Klagenfurt, Austria at the Gustav Mahler Privatuniversität für Musik!

Caleb Randall was lecturing and running master classes on American Art Song alongside Mackenzie Renner working as a collaborative pianist during both the lectures and the masterclasses.

The second photo pictures Caleb and Mackenzie alongside Francka Ĺ enk, the director of vocal studies at the university.

Some pictures from day one of my masterclasses on American Art Song in Klagenfurt!

So thankful to have been invited to teach at the Gustav Mahler Privatuniversität für Musik, and share my knowledge of American music. These students were wonderful and made such great strides especially in their American english lyric diction!

More photos from lectures, day two of masterclasses and many thoughts to come!

A HUGE thank you to Franck Ĺ enk for inviting me but also for taking such great photos and being a wonderful host!!! What a blessing.

Another mentor I am thankful for!

Scott Wheatley is an incredible teacher, collaborator and friend.

I am so thankful for the last 8 years he has spent investing in me and my future. He often jokes, “I give too much,” but what he doesn’t realize is how true that statement is!

His kind hearted, giving nature is one of the very things that makes him one of the best mentors a person could ask for!

The value you bring to the Osher School of Music - - is immeasurable.

Thankful for all you do, and who you are Scott!

As I continue to reflect on my time in Slovenia, I am reminded of how I got to where I am.

As an educator, I know what it is to invest in students and see them rise to the occasion. I know how much time and energy goes into providing opportunities, helping to build connections, and truly investing in their future.

Knowing this, I recognize those who have provided opportunity for me. The ones who have stepped in and helped me believe I can do more than I ever thought possible.

If you told me a year ago that I would be where I am today, I don’t know that I would have believed you.

The connections I’ve build and people I’ve met… it is immeasurably valuable.

In my time at USM, Dr. Malinda Haslett has been an advocate, advisor, mentor, teacher, and an endless supporter of my work.

Her passion, her knowledge, and her connections are what have helped me get to where I am today.

This post is not to negate the hard work I have done to get where I am, but rather to highlight that a students hard work paired with the right mentors can be paramount to success.

Dr. Malinda Haslett is one example of people who have never stopped supporting me and helping to guide me every step of the way.

More posts of gratitude to come. (Scott Wheatley - you’re up next).
