It is wonderful to hear about the revitalization happening in Sanford! That kind of local investment, particularly from residents who know and love the community, really makes a difference.

Seeing old, neglected properties transformed into thriving homes, new businesses, and improved storefronts brings both economic growth and a renewed sense of pride to the town.

Revitalized Businesses: Turning the old 7-11 into a T-Mobile and the old auto parts store into a waterfront bistro breathes new life into key locations.

Storefront Improvements: Upgrades to the Trust Building, Garsney Bros., and Sanford Brake & Tire significantly enhance the visual appeal of the Main and Washington areas.

Housing & Development: Turning around falling-down properties into quality housing is fantastic for community health.

It is a great testament to the community's spirit that this development is being driven mostly by local residents.

Let's hear it for the local owners and responsible developers putting in the hard work to make Sanford better! 👏

See before and after pics below!

CALLING ALL RETAILERS!! From small boutique shops to larger chain stores! Stop the "spending leak" and be part of Sanford’s massive transformation!

Sanford is losing a huge chunk of its community's disposable income to neighboring cities. Neighbors like Biddeford and Rochester are reaping the benefits of our local spending, simply because we lack the retail shops to keep it here.

The Opportunity is HUGE:
• The Demand: A 2025 Market Analysis by RKC Associates shows that if we capture just 30% of the retail spending currently leaving our city, Sanford could easily support 18,000 sq. ft. of NEW retail business. That's with zero worries about competition.

• The Boom: Sanford is officially launching a $35 Million Downtown Revitalization Project! From utility upgrades and "complete streets", to a new 80-spot Park & Ride. We are upgrading public safety buildings, we have a community-owned business fiber network, and we are building up to becoming a regional destination HUB of the surrounding communities for shopping, eating, services, and recreation as Sanford is the center of York County!

Need Land?

We have prime locations ready for you:
-South Sanford: Up to 26 acres available on busy Route 4 (Urban Zone) with 14,000–17,000 vehicles passing daily!

-City-Wide: Affordable, developable land on high-traffic roads and vacant storefronts in Downtown, Springvale, and South Sanford.

Sanford is ready for a retail revolution. The only question left is this: Is it important to be first?

Did you know Sanford is home to the busiest airport in Maine? ✈️

Next time you’re driving down Main Street, take a look toward the horizon. Tucked between Sanford, Kennebunk, Wells and the Berwicks sits a hidden gem with a massive history: The Sanford Regional Airport (SFM).
From Navy Training to Local Powerhouse ⚓
• The 1930s: It all started with Town Engineer Ernest Gallant. Our first passenger, Dr. S.H. Cobb, actually flew in from Portsmouth just to be the first to land here!
• WWII Legacy: In 1942, the Navy took over. They actually moved Route 109 to expand the runways and painted them to look like aircraft carrier decks—complete with "arresting cables" to train pilots for sea landings!
• The Comeback: After some use during the Korean War, the city took the reins in 1953, and we haven't looked back since.

Bigger Than You Think! 📈

Believe it or not, SFM boasts more take-offs and landings than any other airport in Maine—yes! even more than the Portland Jetport!
Managed today by Allison Navia, the airport is a buzzing hub for:
Life Flight of Maine (our local heroes providing emergency ICU care)
173+ Based Aircraft (from gliders and ultralights to multi-engine jets)
36,700 annual air and taxi operations supporting business, healthcare, and flight training.

A Huge Win for Sanford’s Economy 💰
The Airport is a SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC ASSET of Sanford.

Our "little" airport is a heavy hitter. According to a 2022 Maine DOT study, SFM:
- Has a $15.03 Million total economic impact.
- Supports 110 local jobs.
- Contributes nearly $1 Million in state and local taxes.

We are so proud of this self-sustaining engine that keeps Sanford moving forward. Next time you see a plane overhead, know it’s a big part of what makes our city thrive!
