What Is a Max Bid?

A Max Bid on HiBid is the highest amount you're willing to pay for a lot. Once entered, the system will automatically bid on your behalf—only as much as needed—to help keep you in the lead.

How Max Bidding Works:
✅ Automatic Bidding

After you place a Max Bid, HiBid will automatically increase your bid in the required increments whenever another bidder places a higher bid—up to your maximum amount.

🔒 Confidentiality

Your Max Bid amount is never shown to other bidders. Only the current bid amount is visible.

💰 Winning Price

If you win, you only pay the lowest amount necessary to beat competing bids, not necessarily your full Max Bid.

How to Place a Max Bid:
Find the lot you want to bid on.
Click Place Bid.
On the confirmation screen, enter your Maximum Bid Amount.
Click Confirm Bid.

That's it! HiBid will handle the bidding for you.

Can I Edit or Lower My Max Bid?

Lowering a Max Bid:

❌ A Max Bid cannot be lowered or removed once it has been placed.

If you need to reduce your Max Bid, you must contact the auctioneer directly.

✅ To increase your Max Bid:

Return to the lot.
Enter a higher maximum amount.
Confirm your bid.

Tips for Using Max Bids:

✔ Set a realistic maximum based on what you're willing to pay.

✔ Consider using round numbers that reflect your true limit.

✔ Place your Max Bid early to help secure the lot before bidding activity increases.

✔ Watch your email for notifications if you're outbid or when you win an item.
