Take a simple video walk-through.
Open closets, cabinets, drawers, and storage spaces.
Photograph valuable and sentimental items.

One of the biggest mistakes homeowners make after a loss is throwing damaged items away too soon.
We understand the urge. You want the mess gone.
But before anything gets tossed, it needs to be properly assessed and documented.
Why? Because your contents may be:
✅ restorable
✅ part of your insurance claim
✅ more valuable than they look
Once it’s in the trash, it’s much harder to prove what was damaged, what it was worth, and whether it could have been saved.
Our advice: pause before you purge.

“Depreciated” is one of those insurance words homeowners hear all the time — but many people don’t really know what it means until they’re in the middle of a claim.
In simple terms:
If an item is depreciated, its value is reduced because of age, wear, and condition. The NAIC explains that with actual cash value (ACV) coverage, claim payments are based on the item’s value at the time of the loss, considering age and wear and tear. By contrast, replacement cost value (RCV) coverage pays to repair or replace damaged property with materials of like kind and quality, without deducting for depreciation.
That’s why accurate inventory matters.
A couch, TV, or dining table may not be valued at what you originally paid — it may be valued at what it’s worth now.
Our role is to help document each item clearly, assess its condition, and support the claim with the right detail and valuation.
