Nestled in the Los Gatos hills! 🌲✨ Custom wood-shake aesthetic meets high-performance engineering.

A luxury roof should complement the natural landscape around it, not clash with it. For this stunning home in Los Gatos, CA, we installed 𝗚𝗔𝗙 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗼𝗶𝗮® 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗹. The bold, artisan wood-shake design blends seamlessly into the lush hillside canopy while providing advanced solar-reflective technology to keep the home cooler.

A gorgeous exterior is only as good as the system hidden beneath it. Here is how we engineered this roof to last for decades:

Premium Roof Deck Protection: Lined with GAF TigerPaw™ synthetic underlayment for supreme tear resistance and moisture protection.

Self-Sealing Leak Barrier: Installed GAF StormGuard® ice & water shield across critical leak zones to lock out wind-driven rain.

Precision Perimeter Flashing: Outfitted with heavy-duty edge metal flashing for clean drip-edge protection.

Factory-Matched Details: Finished with GAF Pro-Start® starter strips, GAF Startermatch™ ridge caps, and custom-painted mill caps for a clean, unified profile.

As an independently verified Diamond Certified contractor and factory-trained installer, First Tier Exterior builds complete roofing systems designed to safeguard what matters most.

Winter is coming... Is your roof ready for unpredictable Bay Area weather? ⚔️🌧️

We might not have White Walkers in the Bay Area, but with meteorologists keeping a close eye on shifting ocean temperatures and potential El Niño rain patterns, atmospheric rivers and sudden storms are always a real factor.

Your roof does a lot more than enhance your curb appeal—it’s the primary shield protecting your home, your family, and every memory made underneath it. Discovering a hidden leak during a heavy storm is the absolute worst way to test your roof's limits.

True waterproofing isn't just about the shingles you see on top; it’s engineered deep inside the entire system:

Synthetic Underlayment: Serves as an ultra-durable, tear-resistant secondary barrier against wind-driven rain.

Ice & Water Shield: Forms a self-sealing waterproof membrane around high-vulnerability leak zones like eaves, valleys, and skylights.

Precision Metal Flashing: Custom-fitted metal that safely channels heavy water runoff away from critical roof-to-wall transitions.

Manufacturer-Certified Craftsmanship
Complex weatherproofing requires factory-trained installation standards. First Tier Exterior is officially certified by top industry manufacturers including GAF, Malarkey, Owens Corning, VELUX® and many more, as well as being independently verified as Diamond Certified.

Don't wait until the first rainstorm warning hits to check your roof's health.

Other roofers said it was too steep. First Tier Exterior said, "When do we start?" 🧗♂️🏠

When a roof pitch is this extreme, finding a contractor willing to take on the challenge—and do it right—can feel impossible. The owner of this home struggled to find a crew up for the task. That's where First Tier Exterior stepped in.

For a project this extreme, custom problems require high-spec, custom solutions:

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹: Special-ordered DaVinci Multi-Width Synthetic Slate Tiles in the Sonora colorway to seamlessly complement the home’s original aesthetic.

𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: Built over new CDX grade plywood to handle the weight and structure.

𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴: Lined with EcoChief SolarHide SRW radiant barrier underlayment.

𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀: Secured with hot-dipped galvanized ring shank coil nails, specially ordered straight from DaVinci for maximum holding power against steep-slope stress.

Precision, safety, and no shortcuts. When the job is too complex for the average contractor, trust the team with the skill to execute it flawlessly.

Notice anything missing? Neither do we! 🔎🏠

Look closely at these photos of our latest completed roof. At First Tier Exterior, we believe that the beauty of a new roof lies in the precision of the details. Most roofs suffer from unmatched, brightly colored or dark ventilation pipes that stand out on a brand new roof. We refuse to compromise that look.

For this homeowner, we didn't just install Malarkey Legacy shingles in Silverwood; we carried the same texture to the complete ventilation system.

📸 In these images, you can see how we utilized stone-coated heat vents and ultra-low profile O’Hagan air vents that blend perfectly into the shingle line.

The roof protects your home; the details protect its value. This is the difference in First Tier quality.

Does your current roof have mismatched pipes and vents? Maybe it's time for an upgrade that blends seamless protection with curb appeal.
