Third-party logistics (3PLs) and Distribution Centers are becoming a critical focus area in the ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilization landscape. In his session at the Picarro EtO Conference last fall, our own Jonathan Bent discussed emerging strategies for handling EtO-sterile products in warehouse facilities.

He described a systematic approach to isolation, abatement, and monitoring that reduces the need to aerate products slowly using traditional ventilation approaches. And the best part? With more sophisticated monitoring technology that doesn’t confuse EtO for other gases, and with dedicated isolation and aeration storage areas, facilities can shave days or even weeks off the time it takes to get products to the end users that need them.

Learn how Picarro and our partners can help you develop faster product sterilization pipelines and safer workspaces.

Looking for a nitrous oxide (N₂O) isotope analysis solution that delivers better performance than IRMS and offers a more streamlined workflow? At ASITA 2026, Russ Chedgy of Picarro will share how the PI5131-i analyzer paired with the Sage gas autosampler are advancing high-precision, discrete N₂O isotopic analysis across environmental research applications.

Highlights of the solution include:
• Simultaneous measurement of site-specific isotopes (δ¹⁵N𝑎, δ¹⁵Nβ), bulk δ¹⁵N, δ¹⁸O, and continuous N₂O concentration
• A robust CRDS-based platform with key hardware and software upgrades from the previous generation
• Automated sample handling and improved throughput with the Sage gas au-tosampler
• Performance data evaluating precision and viability as an alternative to conventional IRMS methods

If you’re attending ASITA 2026, join Russ to learn how next-generation instrumentation is helping researchers achieve precise, reliable N₂O isotope measurements with greater efficiency.

🧊 What happens when retreating Arctic glaciers expose methane trapped deep underground? In the latest Picarro Spotlight, Picarro’s Kate Schuler highlights groundbreaking work from Gabrielle Kleber of the University of Cambridge and University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) and collaborators showing that methane-rich groundwater springs emerging during glacial retreat may represent a significant and previously overlooked Arctic methane source.

Using the Picarro G2201-i, the team measured the stable carbon isotopic composition of methane from dozens of springs, helping distinguish deep geologic methane from biologically produced methane.

The findings reveal how trusted isotopic measurements can improve our understanding of climate feedback loops and hidden methane emissions in a warming Arctic.

Worker safety starts with data you can trust. At AIHA Connect 2026, Patrick Clark of Picarro will present our Workplace Monitoring System (WMS-64). Utilizing Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy (CRDS), the system is designed to deliver reliable, defensible measurement data that protects employees, strengthens your risk posture, supports proactive decision-making, and stands up to regulatory, legal, and financial scrutiny.

Here’s a quick look at what makes WMS-64 stand out:
• 625+ Compounds in our spectral library
• 16 to 64 Scalable Ports

How can energy companies turn methane regulation into practical action today? At this week’s DVGW Technikforum in Bonn, Martin Endras of Picarro shared a clear path forward with his presentation on a risk-informed leak management approach and how it can be combined with DVGW rules and the EU Methane Regulation.

As the industry works to systematically measure, report, and reduce methane emissions, the conversation is shifting from leak detection alone to Network Intelligence. Martin’s perspective highlighted how technical decision-makers can connect regulatory requirements with real-world implementation strategies that support both operational efficiency goals and security of supply.

How did we arrive at today’s complex ethylene oxide (EtO) regulatory framework—and what should facilities be doing now?

In her session at the Picarro EtO Conference, Amy Moore, Managing Consultant, Trinity Consultants walks through the regulatory history shaping EtO oversight—from Clean Air Act NESHAP standards (40 CFR Part 63) and NSPS requirements (Part 60) to the parallel role of FIFRA.

Her talk unpacks how evolving risk assessments, residual risk and technology reviews (RTRs), and labeling decisions have tightened expectations around emissions controls, monitoring, and reporting.

One of her key messages: don’t wait for regulatory certainty to act. Even amid policy shifts, Moore advises facilities to keep moving toward compliance with the expected 2026 rule requirements, noting that many companies are already doing so.

If you’re navigating EtO compliance, this session provides a practical guide to understanding the regulatory arc—and how to prepare for what comes next.

🌍 Peatlands store carbon—until they don’t.

In his Spotlight blog, Picarro’s Dr. Sohom Roy writes about important research from Pierre Taillardat of Nanyang Technological University. Dr. Taillardat and colleagues show how peatland conversion into plantations can shift these ecosystems from long-term carbon storage toward carbon release—and why some of these pathways have been underrepresented in conventional assessments.

Using the Picarro G2201-i analyzer, the researchers captured high-precision, real-time CO₂ and CH₄ isotopic data to better understand where the carbon was coming from and how it was being transformed—providing insights that are difficult to capture with traditional approaches alone.
