Primer Design - Join us on Nov 11th for a working session to design some primers for the Real Vegan Cheese project on zoom. This is a great opportunity to learn more about primer design.

Problem - Our initial protein gels don’t show a band for our protein of interest. Could be the way we’re doing the fermentation in a shake flask rather than bioreactor (as we are doing for our insulin positive control). But our first troubleshooting should be to check whether the plasmid has actually been integrated in the genome in the first place, which we can do using PCR.

Solution - Design 2 sets of PCR primers that spans entire interaction site and in case the integration site is enact, and a second that a primer that is upstream and inside gene of interest; need a control to know the test is working.
