From the archives: Wisk Generation 1 (Years Operational: 2011-2014).

This was a proof-of-concept aircraft that laid the foundation for the generations that followed. From its lift-plus-cruise configuration to its vertical takeoff capabilities, this design gave our team a starting point to test, learn, and continue developing autonomous eVTOL aircraft.

Johanna Pallmann is an Indirect Supply Chain Manager at Wisk, based in Mountain View, CA. Known for her calm, collaborative approach to complex vendor processes and negotiations, she focuses on keeping operations running seamlessly across departments. We recently shared our latest work with the Federal Aviation Administration's William J. Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace and SkyGrid, testing autonomous eVTOL operations in complex Houston airspace.

By connecting our Gen 6 aircraft in the Autonomy Lab directly with the FAA's National Airspace System (NAS) "digital twin," we tested real-world conditions, evaluating how autonomous eVTOLs interact with active air traffic controllers, existing NAS traffic, and challenging weather scenarios.

The work is helping us refine how autonomous aircraft can safely integrate into the NAS and informing the tools and procedures needed for future commercial operations.

That's a wrap on our 2026 summer internship program! ✈️

This summer, our interns jumped into projects across Wisk, working alongside teams in engineering, supply chain, IT, safety, and more. Along the way, they got a firsthand look at the many disciplines that come together to build the future of autonomous flight.

We caught up with a few members of this year's cohort to hear about what they learned, what surprised them, and what made their time at Wisk memorable.

Congratulations to Wisk's Annie Cheng on being named to EVTOL Insights' Women in AAM Special Report!

As Senior Program Manager of Operations Validation, Annie leads simulation and flight test work focused on how autonomous aircraft operate safely in real-world airspace. Most recently, she led Wisk's new vertiport project at Hollister Municipal Airport, where we'll validate precision landing and terminal-area operations in support of future eIPP testing and FAA vertiport guidance.

Her work with the FAA, NASA, and standards organizations is helping advance the safe integration of autonomous eVTOL aircraft into the national airspace. We're proud to have Annie on the Wisk team and grateful for all she contributes. Congrats, Annie! 👏
