French painter Gustave Caillebotte and his dog Bergère on the Place du Carrousel in Paris. 📸The photo was taken by his brother , Martial Caillebotte , around 1892

(*) Brigitte Franken Il ne faut pas oublier que le frère du peintre Caillebotte, Martial, était photographe amateur mais surtout un compositeur de génie, précurseur de la « musique impressionniste » qui a pour filiation l’école symboliste (Mallarmé, Huysmans, Redon, Verlaine, Gustave Moreau, Puvis de Chavannes, etc), comme l’a souligné le philosophe Vladimir Jankélévitch. Les représentants de cette « musique symboliste » sont Debussy, Ravel, Albéniz, Chabrier, Scriabine, Tournemire, Falla, Sibelius et d’autres encore.
