ICYMI: What Do Pest Inspectors Actually Look For Inside Your Home?: Direct Answer: Pest inspectors check for active pest activity, entry points, conducive conditions like moisture and clutter, and signs of damage — things most homeowners walk past every day without recognizing. Most homeowners expect a pest inspection to turn up a nest somewhere or confirm what they already suspect. What actually happens is a lot […]

Ants Come Back Every Summer. Here’s Why That Keeps Happening: Direct Answer: Most ant treatments fail because they kill foragers but never reach the colony. Argentine ants — the dominant species on California’s Central Coast — maintain satellite colonies and can relocate queens when threatened, which is why ants keep coming back after treatment. I hear the same thing constantly from homeowners across Santa Cruz […]

ICYMI: Why One Flea Treatment Often Isn’t Enough to Break the Cycle: Direct Answer: One flea treatment misses eggs, larvae, and pupae that aren’t affected by most products. Breaking the cycle takes multiple treatments timed to the flea’s development stages — usually 2-3 visits over 3-4 weeks. You treated the house. Maybe you treated the dog. A week later, you’re still seeing fleas jumping across the carpet. […]

Why Cockroaches Keep Coming Back After You’ve Tried Everything: Direct Answer: Natural cockroach repellents don’t eliminate an infestation — they shift it. Until you find and address the entry points, cockroaches will keep finding new routes in. You’ve sprayed the perimeter. You’ve tried peppermint oil, bay leaves, cedar chips, and whatever else the internet recommended. And yet, a few weeks later, there’s another cockroach […]

Jacob had mice getting in but no idea where. Traps weren't solving it because the entry points were still wide open.

Matthew inspected the exterior, found two pe*******on points in the walls, and sealed them the same day. Problem solved.

That's the difference between treating symptoms and treating the actual problem.

If mice keep showing up no matter what you try, the answer is usually in the walls not the traps.

ICYMI: How Do Fleas Get Into a Home With No Pets?: Direct Answer: Fleas enter pet-free homes through wildlife, rodents, used furniture, or previous tenants’ infestations. You don’t need a pet — you just need a way in. Most people assume fleas are a pet problem. If you don’t have a dog or cat, you shouldn’t have fleas — right? That assumption is wrong, and it’s […]

Rats in the Walls: What’s Actually Drawing Them Into Your Home: Direct Answer: Rats get into homes through foundation vent screens, gaps around utility lines, and open roofline seams — usually through damaged or corroded infrastructure that’s easy to miss from the outside. Most Santa Cruz homeowners who contact a pest professional describe the same moment: they wake up around 6 a.m. and hear scratching in […]
