The Lannan Foundation Commissioned Susan York to make her "Floating Column". As the long time collection manager for the Lannan Foundation, I was photo documenting the installation at the New Mexico Museum of Art.
During a down time I wandered through the exhibition and found Susan assisting with making the Sol LeWitt drawing for the museum's exhibition. I had my camera and took some pictures.

Last February through to July we were pleased to work with S.A.R. and the Vilcek Foundation in designing and fabrication of the packing and crating for more than 100 ceramics in this traveling exhibition. It is currently at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe and will travel to at least three other venues. A wonderful exhibition.

These are examples of the traveling crates that we fabricated according to detailed specifications from the professionals at the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. They are for an exhibition currently in Madrid, Spain and will be traveling to Paris and Zurich.
Museum Traveling Crates must safely encase the artworks from the outside environment, movement and vibration, on the inside, while protecting from a variety of possible dangers on the outside. They must be built to remove and repack easily and hold up to several international shipments.
The opened crate, below, is for one painting.

We recently worked on this exhibition with Cindy Graves, Guest Curator. After several previous exhibitions we cleaned up the photographs, replaced some of the plexi on the frames and made to crates suitable for international shipment. Wonderful photographs of Frida Kahlo.

After cleaning and conservation the "Stampede" has returned to Odessa and can now be seen at the Elllen Noel Art Museum. We installed this with several strong gentlemen and two lifts. It stays on the wall with two sets of cleats that we made from red oak planks spanning 16'. All together the work weighs in excess of 800 lbs. The work was glued to a plywood backing with 2" x 4"'s providing support. This was done by the artist Tom Lea, we think, in 1970 when it was being moved to the modern Odessa downtown Post Office, where we de-installed it.

This is a video of our de-installation of the Tom Lea painting, "Stampede", at the Odessa Texas Post Office with Steven Prins. After the de-installation we drove it to Santa Fe, in a climate controlled truck, for conservation. We will then return it to Odessa and reinstall it.

This Judd twelve piece sculpture was sent directly to us from Europe. We did an initial condition survey and found spots of rust on some of the pieces and finger prints on several. Acid on fingerprints can permanently etch into metal. We hosted a conservator from Chinati to do a test cleaning, and write a report before we shipped the sculpture on to the receiving museum.
