With doula clients and with students in my Bradley Method Classes, the topic of induction seems to be a challenging one. Since I have friends in Canada, the U.K., and Italy, I would love to start a conversation about this. First, were you encouraged to be induced as part of your baby's birth?

I was birthed into the doula profession.

After personally experiencing two radically different hospital births: the first one emergency caesarian and the second a VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarian), I saw firsthand how unique every birth is, and what a crucial role my doula played in each birth. Also a sculptor, I now combine my artistic vision with my family-empowering heart and offer doula services with artistic components such as prenatal art making and a drawing session of the family during the first week of birth.

Some things hospital staff and my clients have said:
When my wife said she wanted a doula, I had my doubts about us needing one. But someone said a doula is like a wedding coordinator to a wedding: able to help you achieve your goals as well as deal with all the unknowns that arise. And on a scale of 1-10, Jennifer was a 15!"

We were faced with some tough decisions concerning labor induction in our already high-risk pregnancy. Jennifer respected our doctor’s opinion as well as helping us think through the possible scenarios and weigh our options.
