The Gala Pride and Diversity Center (GPDC) is hosting a community discussion on the Center’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policy. We will review progress toward meeting the organization’s goals and identify any updates to the current statement, which can be found in English and Spanish on the Gala Pride and Diversity Center website (https://galacc.org/).

This is an opportunity to identify emerging needs for diverse LGBTQ+ communities in the San Luis Obispo area and exercise accountability and reflection in the collective struggle for racial justice, decolonization, and intersectional liberation.

Q***r Ethnic Studies Minors:

Consider applying for Mensa Foundation's first-ever Progress Pride Scholarship to lift and center marginalized students at the intersection of BIPOC and LGBTQ.

The Progress Pride Scholarship has just officially launched! Up for grabs are two $10k college scholarships -- the Foundation's largest scholarship awards ever -- for those who identify as BIPOC and LGBTQ and who have a demonstrated record of positive service to the BIPOC and LGBTQ communities.

An essay is all that's required up front, due January 15, 2022. Open to all U.S. university students. Awardee(s) will be selected in early 2022 and will then need to furnish a résumé/CV.

Don’t conflate , with “ .”

Equity emphasizes context, circumstance, and fairness. Meeting folx where they’re at.

Equality assumes that all opportunities and circumstances be the “same” for everyone.

If leaders are using the word “equity” to stop pay and responsibility, it’s a red flag 🚩

Do not be fooled. Equity can be weaponized if it is conflated with Equality.

Bisexuals have made substantial contributions to q***r social justice movements, culture, and society. However, bisexuality is often erased, even within gay and le***an communities. Visibility is one big step forward in inclusion and equity for bisexual, pansexual, and q***r people. ***rprofs
