So proud of this mama for the work she is doing to help other loss moms. Start Healing Together is an advocacy group for teachers experiencing pregnancy and infant loss. What a needed resource, and what a beautiful legacy her son has started šŸ’™

We have a lot of new followers, so I wanted to introduce myself. I’m Jackie, and I began Start Healing Together to support my fellow educators through pregnancy loss and infertility. As a loss mom myself, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to grieve, yet still continue to teach as if I am 100% okay. Start Healing Together began as an organization to support NJ educators, but it is clear that educators and staff across the country could use our help. We want to provide professional development, resources, and emotional support to anyone who needs it. We encourage you to help us break the stigma surrounding these topics by sharing your story! We have a form to complete on our website (link in profile). I shared my story, and it has been life-changing for me. If you wish to read it, the link to the NJEA Review is in our profile. Finally, I’d like to explain the 4 photos above: top left - my wedding day; top right - releasing a balloon in honor of our son, Richard, on our first Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day in 2016; bottom left - my first rainbow pregnancy reaching our milestone of 34 weeks; and bottom right - as a teacher today, devoting all of my spare time to advocacy work.

Parenting is a lifelong journey... and I've found the train analogy to be helpful in not only managing new parents postpartum emotions, but in helping them to understand and manage their children's emotions as well. Have you heard of the train analogy? Pick Any Two: Parenting & Family Blog explains it so perfectly in this article.

I'll never relate to my crying child the same way again.

TFW 2020 is finally over! ✨

Doula work has looked so different this year (hello zoom prenatals, digital postpartum support, and virtual breastfeeding support, etc)... but in the midst of all the change, it also allowed me some time to set aside to be working on lots of different content, website creations, and focusing on my specialties as a doula by enrolling in grad school! I’m so excited to share with you all as the year unfolds, and so excited to keep growing in my doula business and all things postpartum, baby care, and breastfeeding!
Happy Holidays & Happy New Year, everyone šŸ¾
