Mucker Capital

Mucker Capital Mucker Capital invests in seed and “pre-seed” stage companies building defensible and scalable businesses in Internet software, services and media.

We partner with exceptional entrepreneurs who have deep domain expertise, principally in the greater Los Angeles area, to provide their earliest institutional funding and work side-by-side to help launch and scale their new ventures. But, it is our conviction that we must provide more than just capital. As operators and entrepreneurs ourselves, we roll up our sleeves and work with entrepreneurs in

all parts of their businesses that need additional resources. Our name is inspired by Thomas Edison’s vision of creating a place where brilliant entrepreneurs and hackers can work together to create new and better products that either disrupted existing industries or created entirely new markets. Mucker Capital is named after the original hackers, the men who worked with Edison in his labs –- Thomas Edison’s “muckers.”

MuckerLab is the operating and acceleration platform of Mucker Capital that aims to accelerate the growth of the overall technology ecosystem in Los Angeles by filling a critical gap currently in the market for start-ups at the earliest stages – resources, infrastructure, capital and guidance. Our partners and mentors work side-by-side with the region’s best entrepreneurs, enabling them to build, launch, and raise financing for exceptional businesses. Portfolio companies go through a structured, 3-month-long program that provides them with funding, office space and access to a deep mentor network of top-tier investors and entrepreneurs.

Most teams still think about AI as tools.
The shift is thinking about AI agents inside your company.
We are starting to see 3 types emerge:

1. Internal agents – help your team operate faster
2. External agents – support customers and prospects
3. Custom agents – built around your unique workflows

This is less about “using AI” and more about how companies are restructuring work.

We broke down real examples and use cases in the full recap and video.

How do you know it's time to hire and let someone else take the lead?

In this clip from our Week panel, Tomas Ramella, founder of Güeno, shares how he and his co-founder think about building their team.

“Our job is to put the first and second brick of the wall. We’re not the right people to build it two meters tall. We know how to go from zero to one, then we find the person who will take it further.”

Why don't early-stage startups sell across multiple verticals?

Simple: You need stories to win deals.

"Who else in our industry have you worked with?" is often the first question prospects ask. Without relevant case studies, even the best pitch falls flat. You can't effectively sell to everyone, and pursuing unqualified leads can quickly drain your limited resources.

Focusing on specific verticals initially allows startups to build compelling stories and successful case studies, setting the stage for future expansion.

This insight was shared by Richard Harris of The Harris Consulting Group, during our recent Mucker Series Session on sales qualification.
