Happy National Reuse Day! This day celebrates reuse, repair, and resource conservation as a core part of environmental sustainability.

Try visiting a refill store for other home care products, repairing loved items instead of tossing them, or reusing discarded materials or scraps to practice creative reuse and make art. The possibilities are endless! At Recology Sonoma Marin, we find great joy in our new reusable cups, which we are now trying to bring to events. The possibilities are endless!

Discover new reuse ideas at Reuse Alliance's new campaign "The Joy of Reuse" and get inspired to practice reuse today and every day.

40 years of employee ownership looks good on us! This week we celebrated 40 years of Recology being 100% employee-owned with a festive BBQ to commemorate this incredible milestone.

Employee ownership influences how we show up every day. It’s going above and beyond because we take ownership of what we do. It's having pride in the day-to-day tasks we carry out. It’s in the teams who come together during difficult times to support one another.

We look forward to many more years of being employee-owned and serving this incredible community.

Welcome to Where It Goes Wednesday! ♻️
Plastic bags are always a challenge at our recycling facility in Santa Rosa. They often tangle our machinery, or if recyclables are bagged, the entire bag is sent to the landfill. Help us recover more:
✅ Keep recyclables loose in the blue bin
✅ Put plastic bags in the trash
Thanks for recycling right! Every choice at the bin counts.

The 2026 Recology Reuse Bazaar was a smashing success! On September 26th, 2026 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds we had 309 cars drop usable items off in the morning, and 628 shoppers check out with treasures to take home in the afternoon. Out of the apx 49,000 lbs of stuff we received, we were able to give away, donate, or recycle 84% of it - that’s around 41,100 lbs kept out of the landfill. We started this event three years ago to replace a traditional “dump day” where everything is landfilled. Instead we wanted to make an event where these usable items stay out of the trash and instead into the hands of our community or recovered to made anew. It takes months of planning, 70+ volunteers, and partners to make this event a reality. We want to thank Reuse Alliance Conservation Corps North Bay Flipside Thrift Make It Home Bay Area GreenLynx Committee on the Shelterless Sports Basement Santa Rosa for being a partner, to our wonderful volunteers, and to all those that attended - we are so grateful to all of you. Keep an eye out for next year’s date!

Recology Sonoma Marin is trying something new - reusables at events! See it in action as we pilot our new stainless steel reusable cups this weekend at the Railroad Music Festival on Sunday, September 20th. We hope that this trial is one of many, intending to cut plastic, reduce waste, and bring reusables back to events. This pilot would not be possible without the collaborative efforts of Railroad Square Music Festival organizers, Green Mary, Santa Rosa Urban Arts Partnership, and Grossman's Noshery & Bar.
