LEAD CABLE TECHNICIAN

Teldata Enterprise Networks is currently seeking a qualified Lead Cable Technician to manage projects by physically installing cable, overseeing team progress, and communicating with upper management. This dynamic position involves strong leadership skills as well as the ability to make independent judgement calls where normal procedures are not established. The ideal candidate has thorough knowledge of installing, repairing, and maintaining structured cabling and has previous experience in project management or relevant leadership positions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work alongside cabling technicians to install, maintain, and repair low volt structured voice and data cabling. Including Cat-3, Cat-5, Cat-5E, Cat-6E, Cat-6A, and fiber optic.
• Oversee all aspects of projects onsite
• Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and budget
• Set deadlines and delegate tasks based on individual strengths and skill sets
• Prepare reports for upper management regarding project status and team performance
• Analyze and read blueprints and floorplans
• Maintain records and inventory
• Ensure adherence to OSHA safety standards
• Use and continually develop leadership skills
• Communicate with customers, team, and supervisors.
• Communicate safety practices, project objectives, and deadlines to team
Position Requirements
• Minimum of x years of experience in low voltage cabling
• Working knowledge of low voltage systems such as access control, surveillance systems, nurse call, and unified communications.
• Project management or relevant leadership experience
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies, cabling standards and components
• Time and performance management skills
• Advanced problem-solving abilities
• Ability to lift and pull items weighing up to 70 lbs
• In depth understanding of diverse systems and networks
• High school diploma/GED
• OSHA 40 hour certification
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
