Walnut Grove Excavating Customer focused, Integrity Driven Walnut Grove Excavating, LLC owned and operated by Travis Gemmell. My number one goal will be your complete satisfaction.

I am focused on all sizes of residential projects and small commercial projects. Walnut Grove Excavating, LLC is the culmination of a life long dream of owning my own business. It all began on the ground floor of a major corporation and through hard work and determination I was able to climb my way up the corporate ladder. However the higher I climbed the less I was able to do what I really love, which is work with customers each and every day! . With the loving support of my family we bought an old farmhouse in the Lowell/Saranac area with the intentions of turning it into a hobby farm and making it our forever home. As it came time to clear a place for the barn, we struggled to find an excavating company that was willing to take on smaller projects or to fit us into their schedule. I knew from numerous conversations, I was not alone, that there are many other people in my position that are having issues finding someone that can and will do the "smaller jobs" This is where my dream and business plan came to fruition. With my past experience of working on excavating projects for neighbors, friends and my family, I decided to start Walnut Grove Excavating in order to help people get their excavating projects completed on time as defined.

Emergency pump repair taken care of! 🚨

This one was a challenge. An installer doing it the old-school way, with improper disconnects and not using a float tree, always makes the job more difficult. We installed a new float tree, proper fittings, and rope to make the next repair easier.

Another tank replacement completed Friday! 💪
Replacement septic tank completed Friday!

Heavy clay soils? We haul out or move the heavy soils and backfill with sand to help reduce settling over the years.

We also added a new cleanout and brought the risers up to grade, so no more digging up lids for future maintenance!

Driveway Regrade!

We forgot to get before-and-after photos on this one, but trust us when we say it was BAD! Huge holes, standing water, and in some areas, if you didn’t have a truck, you weren’t getting through! 😳

This project was especially important to get right. One of the homeowners is disabled, and they need reliable 24/7 access for emergency services. Their snowplow company had even refused to plow this winter unless the driveway was fixed.

We got in there, corrected the problem areas, and got the driveway back into shape so the homeowners can have safe, reliable access year-round.

And you know you did a good job when the UPS driver stops and applauds when you finish! 😂👏

🚧 Another pool demolition in progress! 💪

Cole tackled this concrete pool demo today, and all the concrete has been jackhammered and is ready for sand and backfill!

Did you know pool demolition requirements can vary from county to county and township to township?

Some require permits, some require notification, and others have different requirements for how the pool and concrete must be handled.

For this project, the township needed to be notified, but no permit was required. The concrete and pool materials can remain on-site as long as they’re buried at least 30” below grade.

🚧 This commercial lot is coming together! 🚧

We’re getting closer to wrapping up this project! The last loads of asphalt have been hauled out, the additional parking area has been regraded, the topsoil has been Harley raked, and the dumpster pad is built.

We’re now building the drywell for stormwater management and knocking out the final touches. Just a little more work, and this project will be complete!

Another great project coming together with a little teamwork, the right equipment, and attention to detail.
