I had the privilege of presenting on ABC7’s Suncoast View to honor someone who meant a great deal to me, his family, and thousands of people in Sarasota—Harvey Vengroff.

Harvey wasn’t just known for real estate. He was a fierce advocate for people, especially those who needed a second chance. He fought for the underdog, stood up for what was right, and never backed down from a challenge. Through One Stop Housing, he gave thousands of families access to affordable homes. He was direct, fearless, and had a heart that truly cared about this community. Above all, he deeply loved his family and lived his life with purpose, compassion, and conviction.

One of his personal properties, 5135 Riverwood Avenue on Phillippi Creek, is now listed—and it’s more than just a home. It’s a piece of his legacy. I’m truly honored to share his story and represent a place that reflects the mission he lived every day.

If you own property in Sarasota County or the city of Sarasota, I've got some good news for you. It looks like the tax rates for your city and county won't be changing much, if at all. However, keep in mind that you might end up paying a bit more in taxes because property values have gone up recently.

Guess what? The county and city commissions both had a meeting in July and gave a thumbs up to the idea of keeping property tax rates pretty steady. So, even though things might feel the same on the tax front, remember that changes in property values could still impact your overall tax amount.
